3 piece for Metal (is it good enough)?

I have been using a 3 piece for about 6 months (snare/bass/tom-tom) and before 3/4 months i bought double pedal and started playing blast beats(16"notes 200BPM+).
So i'm curious is it okay to use a 3 piece with 3 cymbal (classics setup hats/crash/ride) to play that kind of music(death/deatcore/black/progressive)?
No. It is not ok. You need a large double bass set- up to do metal the justice it deserves. If your guitar players aren't using full Marshall stacks they need to get with the program. Doesn't anybody watch MTV anymore? You can't play metal looking like a group of hillbillies. Pretty soon you'll be doing gigs at the Grand Ole Opry ;)

Look to George Kollias. That's what you want to look like ;)

See what I did there 😳

Based on the context I gathered that Rings of Saturn is a band, yup, a really weird technical math-core band that look like a bunch of baristas. Except for that long haired blond guy on drums of course. Looks like he just uses 2 small toms and adds a triggered clicketty-clack over everything. Damn video editing almost gave me a seizure.

And a live video:

Is this really what the kids are listening to these days?

Lol yeah I know who they are I said "wut" because no drummer for ROS has used only a 10" and 12" as a tom set up.
Anyway yeah the new drummer (who is in the video) is Aaron Stechauner. He's only the live drummer (Aaron Kitcher wrote the drums on Lugal Ki En) and uses a one up one down configuration (one rack and one floor). I'm pretty sure that floor tom is at least a 14". As far as triggers I'm pretty sure the all the album recordings are programmed or triggered and the live performances are definitely triggered. Look up Jesse Beahler, he was probably the best drummer they've had so far (as far as clean playing).
Utopia happens to be one of my favorite songs by them, sick drumming and awesome solos, not to mention the overall melody is very enjoyable. I'm assuming since you said "the kids" that you haven't heard this kind of stuff before?

Here take a load off man, this should help you perceive it in a different way. Enjoy the music.
