2015 Summer Drum Solo Exposition

Lets have a drum solo exposition. Everyone share a recent drum solo video.
Here is my contribution. https://youtu.be/eybpnNoJDG0

Nice set and cymbals! I like the story that was told through the solo. The stuff you were doing on the snare about halfway through seemed deceptively simple.

This is a solo I did at my gig last night, live and everything. The audience reaction at the end blew me away, you always hear how people hate drum solos but they loved this one!

Thanks froggy, and nice solo. You kept the energy going and the audience reacted. You played smoothly and everything flowed.
A drum solo should fit the context of the tune and yours did.

Keep em coming everybody. There is too much talk about gear around here and not enough playing being presented. I want to see solos from players of all levels.

Dang Bob that was awesome-I wouldn't even try a four minute solo. Seafroggy man that was drivin' too-worked great with whole song. You dudes know how to solo.

Thank You grippa. Try a solo. Don't be shy. This forum is supposed to be about learning and playing. Start out with a rhythm and slowly build on it.

Thanks guys I really appreciate it too!

I think in a band context, drum solos are best when they're shorter (not too short, I'm not talking like a 4 measure break) and if there's some sort of accompaniment. While the freeform drum solo for 10+ minutes are cool, they're cool for other drummers. What I tried to do there was something that would hit my above points, and I think it pulled off.

This is, of course, talking about a rock/pop context. In jazz, fusion, latin, etc., there's more flexibility there.

How about some drum solos featuring equipment?

Hopefully this thread will last a bit so I can give it a go-at least a short one.

Excellent nirvana, Jazz is my favorite music. Nice job.

Thats the spirt GetAgrippa.

Good efforts 2under.
You had a theme for each solo. You expended on the theme. You went about 3 mins with the second solo.
If you develop your traditional grip right hand a bit more you will find it easier to be smoother.
It appears that you have a nice collection of kits.

Well... Ehh... I have a short little solo of me when I first started drumming, about 1.5 years ago. Maybe I'll upload it later to give you guys a laugh.

And what makes it even worse is that I remember editing it with movie maker, Iol.

Thanks,

I appreciate the kind comments and critique. Sometimes it takes an independent view to see things that maybe I have overlooked or have gotten a little sloppy with.

Looking forward to more postings from others.

We need some doubles guys to join in. It would be cool to have some foot talent in this thread.

BTW, Where the heck are Larry, Bo, and Andy?

Sometimes when I solo, I sing simple tunes in my head to keep me going. It can even be a stupid thing like a nursery rhyme. It really doesn't matter as long as it gives me groove in my head.

Pyro, post a new solo along with your old solo so that a comparison can be seen in your ability.

I've been away for the last few days running a festival Bob http://www.drummerworld.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1371042#post1371042

I don't have a kit set up to record right now - still extremely busy, but here's something I did 3 years ago for Grea's 2 minute solo challenge.

Solos are so not me Bob. I have neither the skills nor the need / application for them. This is more of a themed snippet than a solo.

BTW guys, major props to all who've posted thus far :)
