    After living with one of the snares for a couple months I don't see the tuning range any different than any other quality snare. Mine has gone from high to low and sounds awesome. YMMV

    You're not alone there. Plies have nothing to do with how thick a shell is. There is no industry standard. Some manufacturers use different thicknesses of plies on the same drum. If IRRC the old 3 ply Ludwig's were some thick ass drums. Seemed like it when I was hauling a double kick set around...
