i agree about the bass articulation, and left hand muting...left hand muting is the key to almost all styles of bass playing
but I am confused about this song...
I thought busy playing got you only pain and misery, ridicule, and no money, and little to no people at shows....
😁
that wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be given the commentary....but it also wasn't mind blowing....sort of 70's based, "improv on a groove" based drum soloing...
nice!!! I remember our first indie label signing. Make sure you have all negotiations "on paper", and that all members of the band are there for decisions! We did not havea bad experience with our guy, but just citing some things that became issues with other people I know when they signed to...
do what you would have done as a kid...THAT is where the fun is...
I still play in my original bands because that is where the "stars are still in my eyes"
my cover bands are sort of for "buisness and learning"...I still enjoy my time with the cover bands, but I don't get the "warm fuzzies"...
yeah...when I read those rules, I was like "shouldn't these all sort of be assumed? Like, automatic?"
but people never fail to surprise me i ntheir lack of having people/professional skills....
i get that!!! I think the lazy bug gets me for the country/jazz stuff...those gigs tend to be more "low-key" than the rock ones...smaller stages many times as well, and the vibe is "get in, play the sets, get out"... the smaller kits help with that
yep...there is a huge difference between playing the drums and PLAYING the drums....
so one of my most intimidating moments came when I was doing a pit orchestra gig in college, and they hired this bass player in town, who I will call "Marcos" in lieu of using his real name w/o permission. He...
I am sort of glad I haven't grown out of my big set up yet....because helps keep me young. I reminds me that it is actually ok to use the octobans and ice bell every once in a while...and it is ok to lug a ton of crap into the gig....that is rock and roll!!! I am still th guy who doesn't mind...
and it is not that I am aganst playing on video...if I could find someone else willing to do all of the production work for free, I would make tons of videos...
here is a short list of what I give my newer private students:
Back in Black - AC/DC
Dynamite - Jamiroquai
Paradise City - GNR
Shot In The DArk - Ozzy
Breaking the Law - Judas Priest
Sad But True - Metallica
Photograph- Def Leppard
Round and Round - Ratt
Dancing In The Street - Van Halen
More...
having been a member in bands where every one of those things were a problem, I think it should become a Band Manifesto...
I think I would have worded it a little better, or even called and just discussed it, but count me in the camp of the list not being outlandish
no...that is way too much technology for me to have to manipulate to do so. I currently don't have the time to invest in learning to edit, setting up a space, with the recording equipment to make the sound quality happen.
a lot of that is also because I am an old guy who just doesn't live in...
personally, if someone is critical of me, I love it. Give me feedback; throw ideas my way
if they are just criticizing, or condescending, I just hand them my sticks and say "go"....
not once has anyone ever been able to back up their words with playing....
that song took me the longest on that album...and I still rarely ever nail tht little splash cymbal thing in the second verse. I can do the fill, but getting out of it always is a kerfuffle
and the feel of She's Too Good For Me was killer for the first year of tryign it...but it really helped...
yep...micorphones and PA systems don't make you sounf better...they just amplify your sound.
and effects* don't make you sound better...they just color your sound
*other than that stupid pitch corrector thing
