Inexpensive way to improve Hi Hat sound.

See, now when people post opinions, they get dismissive responses. I personally disagree with Bo's comment that people that play 14" hihats are inexperienced. (not exactly in those words but kind of how it seems you heard it) Literally 100's of 1000's of drummers at every level use 14"'s. If the...

what is your favorite song of Five Beats

Which part did you play the orchestrra bells on? I used bicycle rims for cymbals, hung from the ceiling, to learn black sabbath before I had any cymbals. I don't see the electronics. I learned "No one Like You" with my airdrum set. I was trying to joke with you about it, when maybe I should be...

Sure that will be the shortcut... Don't you need about $25k worth of gear to start on that path? Sarcastic fun, no disrespect intended. (should be my signature)

Inexpensive way to improve Hi Hat sound.

I think you would be pleased if you put your 16" crash cymbals up for the intended purpose and got yourself some 13", 14" or 15" Hihats, whether loud or not. They can't be louder than two crashes... any way could they? I recently took advantage of a sale at GC for two full boom/straight stands...

    Metronome app for song count-ins?

Mertronomous is Free I think you can do that with that, I am pretty sure you can select how long it plays and or how many measures.

    Unexpected drum tastiness

yeah his voice has that scratchy rasp that I like the most. I don't like using genre labels, but I just call it old school, maybe motown. His voice is so good. Like them old blues cats, Or like Paul McCartney, Joe Cocker, It has a Faces (Ron Wood, Rod Stewart), kind of style too. One tune I...

    Unexpected drum tastiness

I like peter's solo album. It was old school even for then. But that is a cool drum part. He lost me after the first pause. I did not hear the bass drum in the tom parts, like most drummers use today. Anton did an instruction video too, back in the '90'

Maybe it isn't the time signature giving you trouble but note rates. A quater note triplet in 4/4 will result in 6 notes over the full measure, or it could be a 3/2, or 6/4 The quarter note triplet is 3 notes over 2 1/4 note time space. The key is that 4/4 is the bottom number is note value...

Drum Mutes without loosing the Acoustic Drum feel

I have used sound off's not sure if they are evans or not. They are sort of flimsy and come with the cymbal pads too. The bass drum silencer pad tie on with a thick rubberband, but that is probably outdated now. My snare mute is a harder rubber LP CP silencer which comes to my point. The hard...

I have never played odd times in a band. oh wait, Them Bones by Alice in Chainsis in 7/8, played that. But, its pretty much over my head too. I was the guy that dropped my hihat clutch then barely pressed my foot and locked it into a mostly semi closed permanent position, so my left foot could...

    Flat chinese

My current family, the 2nd hat is under the top hat. Just realized my 17" sabian aa crash is not pictured there. So there is that one more.

    Flat chinese

I once had an 18" sabian aa fast chinese, that was perfect, hard to find another like it. I am ultimately planning on a 16"' china on the left and an 18" on the right both high up and mounted with only a slight degree off of being vertical, but I think this one will stay in the bag or go...

    Flat chinese

You guys notice it says "Flat Chinese" right on the cymbal? My concern playing it like a crash is the edge is much thinner and looks completely like I will crack the thing, if I strike it, mounted the as a crash or ride. I know it is a personal preference, just wanted to hear from the experts...

Ending cover songs that fade out

Doesn't Freebird originally fade out? You know they do the epic punches with a quadruple bass tom flam for the last note live.

    Flat chinese

Ok so I prefer china cymbals be mounted with flanged side out bell down opposite crashes and rides, but what do I do with this?

Ending cover songs that fade out

I say the more unlikely it is for a song to turn into a jam at the end the more I want to go all 80's hairband epic huge sustained massive never ending ending like we are ending our touring days and just don't want to stop endings. But you could just stop all at once or add a punch or two, make...
