The large majority of my practice time is spent on the kit above. It started life as a TD17kv with the rack mounted hihat cymbal and separate foot control. I couldn’t upgrade it fast enough. I hated that part of it. So almost $1000 later it is now essentially a TD17kvx. I would have saved money...
Just got my visa recently. Took a week to get a new card.
I also have my credit reports locked so at least they can’t open new accounts. Not a bad idea.
If I’m only keeping two acoustic sets then it’s got to be the USAC Gretsch and the Bonham Vistalite. I have zero complaints about the Pearl.
To add some clarity to why I chose that way, I don’t gig and have zero desire to.
Yeah I’ve got a full set of Meinl cymbals that I need to sell. I also sold some guitars. I’m now down to 4.
I also gave away a bass. Problem is I just bought two new basses and two bass amps. At least they don’t take up much room.
Mine is on the second floor. House was built in 72. Zero issues. I had a king sized water bed in a different room for years. You’re not playing that heavy.
My wife is totally cool. She says, “ it’s not that loud”. I know better so I don’t push it. I play mostly while she is a work or cleaning...
I’ve gone a bit overboard in the last few years. 8 or 9 kits have come through the door. I was recently at 7 in the house.
In a brief moment of clarity I realized, I have a problem. I decided to downsize a bit.
I sold two Gretsch Brooklyn kits. I’m ready sell the Pearl Masters Maple...
I have a very nice 6 lug Slingerland snare. They’re okay for some things. As everyone has said there are a lot of things to be aware of when buying vintage.
For $150/$200 I’d be looking at a new/ used Ludwig Supralite. That is a solid snare for all things rock/pop.
Another vote for Moises. About $40usd for a year. I use it extensively and it is a life saver.
There is a work around where you can get any song into the app without having to buy that song through the iPhone music app. For instance if you pay for Spotify you can put those songs on Moises...
Them telling you all of this…
I see it like a second marriage. You’re tired of the BS and you just want to lay it all out there so there is common understanding going into the new arrangement. It as if to say, I’m being totally transparent. I don’t like what was and I don’t want to have to go...
Notice I’m in the off topic form…
New 2008 Warwick Corvette $$ (German)
I’m playing through a GK MB115 for home practice.
I haven’t played bass in over 10 years. I got the itch to pick it up again.
You don't say what your old kit was that was so bad. Based on popular opinion and reviews I would stick with Roland or Yamaha for reliability and sound.
While I have an acoustic kit and play it whenever I can, I also have a Roland TD17KVX kit that I play every day. I've played it for a few...
Pro tip… if you do this use the material from a tea bag and clear polish. It’s actually quite durable stuff.
I used to use this to repair broken fingernails when I was playing classical guitar.
