Bass player took a separate gig, said we shouldn't play without him.

You made it a lot longer than I would have. Mike B

    The Best Stick Bag?

This looks an awful lot like my Reunion Blues bag that I've had for 25 years or so! Mike B

How many issues of M.D. do you own.

I've got most of the 80's and 90's in boxes. I loved it. I subscribed a couple of years ago, 2019 maybe? Not much there, so I let it lapse. Mike

Soundguys ever complain about your unported kick?

Kinda still does, after. Mike B

Would you tell your band that you’re looking for a better gig?

I would start looking - one of the biggest mistakes I made (early 90's) was staying "loyal" to a band when I really wanted to expand my horizons and play different styles with others. Once I did, I saw just how much the others were holding me back. I am not sure of your age, but we ain't getting...

Gretsch USA bass drum mount plate help required

Figured it would help to link to the Gretsch catalogs of that era... but all the USA kits are showing virgin bass drums. 🤷‍♂️ http://www.drumarchive.com/Gretsch/ Mike B

DW recommended "Tuning Pitch Note" ---do you actually tune to it or disregard it?

    Leo Fender wasn't a guitarist, either. Mike B 😉

    Lars Ulrich

Yep, but that poor little china acting as a ride cymbal. Is it even audible? It wasn't on my (bass-heavy) 5ch computer sound. Where'd his ride go, anyway? ;) Mike B

I wouldn't. It looks perfect! Congrats on a great drum. I'll get one someday. Mike B

    2020 Modern Drummer Festival

My wife and I enjoyed it. Not really "live" - kind of like watching a bunch of youtube videos (without being sidetracked into watching funny cat videos or political ads breaking in)... We didn't get to the end, will watch the rest today sometime. Mike B

storing snares, detune all heads/moisture pack?

As Steady Freddy above, I have had some drums since the 80's (1960's and 1970's drums) kept under tension their whole lives - no ill effects whatsoever. They are designed to be under tension, not left floppy. Keep them that way. I would also think the head would hate being loosened and tensioned...

Question for bar-band folks, re some song choices

Perhaps checking what is "current" on the popular radio stations in your area? (Not even sure if the younger crowd even uses the radio unless they are in their cars) - but, short of asking the crowd for requests, just try some current songs that you guys like - ones that you can do well and...

    2020 Modern Drummer Festival

Sounds neat. I just checked it out online - I had nothing planned for this evening, have a large screen on my computer and a good sound system with sub. I have been to many festivals in person, always fun. I'll give it a try. Mike B

Why I don't want help taking down, even carrying my drums.

In my busiest gig period (95-2002) I painted my cases with numbers 1-8. It was easy to count all the pieces even in dark NYC clubs once the gear was packed and piled. It was also numbered in the order it was packed into my vehicle at the time. Much easier when folks would "help" pack/carry...
