Same issue here, love the sound of them on toms, but have to use Emperors as the Ambs don’t last.

What Is The Definitive Preference Between DW 5000, Pearl Eliminator or Tama Iron Cobra?

For me it would be… 1. DW5000 (by far) 2. Iron Cobra 3. Eliminator And that’s the problem, ask 10 different people and you’ll get 10 different answers. It comes down to what works best for you. But the bottom line is that they are all excellent pedals.

Just got a Remo SMT Clear Emp bass head

That's good to hear. I guess the reason for not including a thinner ring is cost, at least you can cut the thicker ring down to your taste. Mark

Just got a Remo SMT Clear Emp bass head

You may find that this works. EMAD’s come with 2 rings, a thick and a thin one. Most people I see using EMAD’s are using the thin ring, so I can’t for the life of me think why Remo only supply a thick ring with the SMT heads.

Yamaha Recording Custom Brass 5.5x14 - Your opinion and experience?

I own a 5.5 RC, it's a wonderful drum in both build quality and sound. However, as Chris says above, there are a number of other options that are also worth a look at.

Diagnosed with Essential Tremors, my playing may be over

I’m guessing that it depends how severe the tremor is, I’ve had an essential tremor in my right hand for many years now, I’ve never even thought about it in terms of my drumming. I’m a photographer by trade and it does affect that side of things.

Has Anyone Played the New Premier Elites?

The premier name is now owned by a large music retailer in the UK called Gear for Music, the kits are made in the Chinese factory where a lot of the other instruments they import are made, I very much doubt that they will gain much momentum as a brand as it just seems to be another line for...

I've played a lot of aluminium snares from different manufacturers over the years, to my ears they all sound similar (not the same), but they all have that same dry sound, sharp and metallic when tuned high. dry and woody when tuned low.

Dating a DW kit...no, not like that!

Thanks for that, I think that this particular kit was manufactured sometime between 2012 and 2018, I might just drop DW an email.

Dating a DW kit...no, not like that!

Does anyone know when the True Hoops were introduced on DW kits? I've just purchased a second hand kit, it has VLT shells, the current badges, labels on the inside of the shells but no date stamp. My older DW kit has the date stamped inside the shells. TIA Mark
