    Anyone else despise flippers/dealers?

I have never thought or intended to imply the guy was running a scam. I am confident he is just trying to stay afloat like the rest of us. Like I said, I was half-crocked and should have not posted or used words like "despise". With that said, I think he is overpriced but as others have said...

    Electronic Drums to Acoustic

The best electronic bass drum head that I have found that is similar to a Mylar head is the Pearl Tru-Trac bass drum trigger. The Pearl Tru-Trac tom heads are horrid, but the bass drum is my favorite. I have played/owned almost all of them on the market i.e. Roland, Yamaha, DIY, etc. You will...

    Anyone else despise flippers/dealers?

I did buy the drum from another seller, but that was after the initial post. I already stated that in a subsequent post. In fact, I bought two additional drums since the original post. -both were on Reverb. You guys keep kicking this can down the road. As far as shipping goes, I have a...

That was a typo, but thanks for the correction. I also said I was half-lit, so if that was the only grammatical error; I did well.

    Anyone else despise flippers/dealers?

I ship stuff all over the US weekly through a corporate account. Also, a snare is heavier than a mid 70s thin ply tom. It is based on dimension and weight - I ran the numbers but I do get substantial discounts. However, lets roll your numbers for conversation sake -$70 is a 26% markup on...

Your not mistaken. The seller had them listed in both locations but price dropped the one on Reverb. There is an earlier model on eBay right now with an opening bid of $199 but its pretty ruff. It does have the thick rerings and muffler though. Being an 18 at the end of the line, I am fine...

That one has been up there awhile. It went away and then came back. I emailed that guy previously with some questions and never heard back so I took that as my sign to pass on that one. I thought you were talking about the one on Reverb for $250 and $39 shipping. I bought that one this morning.

    Your practice area set ups

Wood paneling and a tiffany light. You need some shag and a Ludwig Octaplus to finalize it :) I have a bedroom that I call my retro room. I actually wanted to find some wood paneling but found it near impossible other than doing real planks which isn't cost effective with the Covid shortages.

    Anyone else despise flippers/dealers?

Outside of supply demand 101, there are douche bag sellers. For instance, the ass clown I was dealing with wants $70 to ship a 13" tom. Not only are the prices insane, they are profiting on shipping. Even with the high shipping rates we are seeing right now, based on box dimensions and weight...

Help me decide: refinish or wrap?

I wouldn't sink a lot of time or money into those shells. At the end of the day, they will still be Epics just like at the end of the day this guys car is still an AMC Pacer. Pick a better starting platform.

I thought they had transitioned by then. Thanks for the correction but either way, it was deplorable. My 1976 B/O 3-ply kit had a lot of seem separation on the wrap which was probably why they eventually went to the rivets. I must say the Japanese era drums and hardware from that era was head...

Good info to know - noted. On the plus side, they used glue instead of the gawd-awful rivets the rednecks in Monroe, NC used on the Ludwig drums from that era. I was grew up in rural NC, so trust when I tell you to never, ever give a county boy a rivet gun in woodshop.

Or concert toms. Most 70s 6, 8, and 10 were all concert with the 12+ having reso heads until the larger power toms came into vogue. Concerts with Evans hydraulics were definitely the rage.

If your planning a rewrap, then it doesn't matter or if you don't mind a jellybean kit it also doesn't matter. In my case, I prefer matching but I don't gig out so it shouldn't matter; but, I definitely prefer it.

For now, I think I am going to hold fast. Thinking back to my previous Ludwigs, I remember having tuning woes between the 16 and 18 that I could never get a happy medium between them. I ended up using a 15" rack tom in place of the 16" which yielded better results. I also remember that...

@drumhedd - Thanks for replying. The kit I bought this weekend is an early 70s with the thick rings, so I cant leave them out of it :) So based on what your saying, you would recommend holding and waiting for the same period shells. I don't really need more toms since I have the 10, 12, 14...

Calling all vintage Tama Imperialstar Gurus/Owners

I picked up a mid to late 70's Tama Imp set with the early thinner ply shells with reinforcement rings in 10,12,14, 16, and 22. My goal is to monster this out in 80s fashion, but I have a question on mixing and matching within the MIJ 70s and 80s Tamy Imperialstrar family. I found some...
