    Tightest Fitting Heads

This isn't a drumhead QC issue. The ID spec on your counter hoop is probably on the tight side and it rubbed against the collar. The collar is designed in such a way that it creates greater surface area for the horizontal plane of the drumhead, allowing for batter fit across a range of shells...

    Tightest Fitting Heads

"Impossible"? I've put Evans heads on Sonor Delites before without any issues. Not sure why you're struggling with centering them. I suppose if you're trying to put the heads on with the bass drum in playing position then it would be difficult but that's really not recommended anyway. Are the...

    Tightest Fitting Heads

I'm not sure I understand why you think you need tighter fitting drumheads for an undersized drum shell. The design of an undersized shell places the apex of the bearing edge further inboard on the head to prevent in issues with seating and enhance the overall tuning range (very similar to...

Has the Evans Genera HD Snare Batter been rebranded HD Snare Batter?

"Genera Heavy Duty" was the long-form name. This was commonly referred to as Genera HD or simply HD (similar to the Super Tough or ST drumheads).

This feels like a relevant experiment worth sharing here:

    Your perception of YouTube/IG/TikTok drummers

Don't forget the acoustics and, even more importantly, the know-how/experience tied to all of that. THAT's what I really think sets them apart from people with their personal home studios.

Excellent! THAT is how it should be handled.

    Your perception of YouTube/IG/TikTok drummers

I read through this whole thread yesterday evening and decided not to revive it unless someone followed up. Since a couple posts went up today, I'm sharing what I drafted. To be clear, this isn't directed at any one person. I've got a LOT of thoughts on this as I straddle both sides of the...

I'm sorry, but this is incorrect regarding the need to seat Evans heads. Please see my post above regarding the purpose of seating and how the relationship of the head and the shell dictate what's required, not the brand of the head.

Well, I thought I was going to escape Remo's poor QC with Evans...

This is not always the case. Some head/drum combinations don't require seating. I don't need to seat Evans heads on any of my drums due to the drumhead collar shape and my drum dimensions. The whole point of actively seating a head is to ensure that the head has stretched out and over the...

    Roo drumhead?

I can attest to the fact that heads from Kentville Drums are *excellent*. I'll actually choose these over calfskin heads. Steele (the man behind Kentville) is a highly skilled and knowledgeable drum builder/repairman on top of making some excellent kangaroo hide drumheads. He's also a genuinely...

Was the head under performance tension in the first photo? Typically these dimples or areas where the film has buckled will disappear under tension and you'd never notice a difference. However, if the head isn't resonating like you're used to and/or the dimple doesn't go away, the dimple may be...

How tight do you tighten the resonant head?

As much as one can try to separate the tool from it's use, it's not realistic to try and silo the two. The way the tool is marketed, the recommendations built into the tool- all of this feeds the use. I appreciate your encouragement to educate them (people who use tuners as a crutch), which is...

    Coating peeling

@Moejo Well, it looks like you missed the 6 1/2 years that I worked there and you appear to have signed up here after I operated the @EvansSpecialist account on this forum. I think I established a pretty solid reputation of doing whatever it takes to make things right and often provided heads or...

    Coating peeling

It would help if you were a bit clearer in articulating these things earlier on. I'm only referencing what you posted when @roncadillac inquired as to how long it's been since you tried Evans heads: 🤷🏼‍♂️ Maybe I've completely misunderstood what you've shared in this thread. If you've...

    Coating peeling

"Been happening since the early 2ks." This is misleading. The coating process and formula has changed over the years but since you haven't tried any heads since the early 2000's I can understand how you wouldn't know this. The profile of all of their heads has changed since then too. You also...

    Coating peeling

If you're not willing to try something out, that's fine and (obviously) entirely up to you. But please don't make misleading statements that you can't back up like, "it's been happening since the 2000's". It sucks that the people working in customer service at that time left you in a lurch but...

    Coating peeling

Man, you gotta allow for change. Personnel is different, quality has vastly improved, customer service is at the top of the game. If it's been ~20 years since you've tried something, it might be worth giving it another shot or at least couching your opinions given the two decades that have gone...

Changing reso heads made a giant difference

Who are these YouTubers? Name names! 😂 There are too many people achieving social popularity without any substantive expertise and then offering up half baked theories and anecdotal experiences as scientific fact. Side note- I recommend changing snare resos as often or even more frequently...
