Vicious Bark: a killer hihat part.

According to this article the drums were a Garage Band loop. I’m pretty old, but that means a non human drummer to me. Good tune, and beat though. https://medium.com/micro-chop/rihannas-grammy-award-winning-umbrella-is-a-garageband-loop-3e1430446363

Vicious Bark: a killer hihat part.

Yeah, it’s not like there’s a shortage of great drummers. sometimes I think live drumming might come back as producers seek more organic sounds. I would like to think things will go “ full circle” Perhaps wishful thinking on my part !

Vicious Bark: a killer hihat part.

This tune seems to be on high rotation at the Walmart I shop at every weekend. It always catches my ear, especially that hi hat part. I’ll have to sit down behind the drums and try it now!

Teen charged in assault of Rick Allen of Def Leopard

Yeah, you’re probably right about new coverage and copy cats. But sometimes you do wonder why certain events are covered and others not. In the case of the school shooting/murder in my community, I’m pretty sure why it was not covered, but I’ll leave opinion to myself. Now is not the time or...

Teen charged in assault of Rick Allen of Def Leopard

Sadly so. I’m a high school teacher, just about every day we have fights on campus. In fact just yesterday there was a shooting at high school across town that resulted in a death of a student. I don’t think it was even mentioned on the national news, I guess because it so common.

Teen charged in assault of Rick Allen of Def Leopard

I’m not even sure if the kid knew who he was was assaulting but certainly he could see that he was beating up a disabled elderly person though. Maybe just an easy target to rob or simply abuse? How disgusting.

Does anyone here practice double bass, with no musical need for it?

Sounds like you got a deal on your DB pedal! Was it used?

Does anyone here practice double bass, with no musical need for it?

At this point, I could only envision using double bass on big ending on songs, maybe some fills or drum solos. I’m not sure if I’d want to take more gear out, but sometimes I think it might behove me to do some double bass playing just at home for my own development and enjoyment. I‘ve always...

    drum grade books

I really know nothing about them, but it sounds way better than what was available when I was starting out in the 70’s! I’d recommend that you also invest time in your overall hand and foot technique, listen to lots great music, go to concerts, play with great albums, and most importantly, play...

From exciting to ho-hum in three hours!

You never know, really. You can only give it your best effort, especially as a sub. And so goes it, you’ll keep on playing and so will they. Don‘t be surprised if you work with them again. Stranger things have happened!

    Tommy Aldridge drumeo

My musical tastes quite different but I still find Tommy Aldridge very inspirational! Great sound, power, and groove. It’s great to see he‘s still at it, and still loving what he does so well!

Should I attend the PASIC 2023 Event?

I went as a teen when it was in my area. This was pre internet, so getting to see drummers Jeff Pocaro, Vinnie Calaiuta, Stewart Copland was absolutely amazing. I’m still inspired nearly 40 years later by what I saw at that PASIC. But so much is different now with the Internet, and YouTube, you...

Using crash cymbals as high hats

The hi hats that I got too back in 1980 are also Zildjian, and the stamp is still visible, that says “rock”. So my 16” crash is probably a “ rock” model too. Funny thing is my jazz drumming buddies absolutely love my “ rock” hi hats!

    First Drum Book (s)

Back then there weren’t many options, so you studied with the local teacher, whoever that may be. I didn’t come from a musical family at all, so I feel very fortunate to start lessons early on. That teacher gave me a pretty strong foundation on hand technique and rhythmic notation reading. He...

    Opinion on Attack Drumheads?

I have had an Attack Terry Bozio model head on a Ludwig Acro snare for over 20 years. It still sounds great. No complaints!

    First Drum Book (s)

I started lessons when I was 10 years old in 1976 with a hippie dude I thought was going to be cool, but he was a total hard ass. The only book we used was modern reading text. He insisted I count everything out loud, playing alternating strokes with my hands while both feet playing in unison...
