This may be a DW members former kit.

I picked this kit up on ebay a few years ago for not too much money, under $500 if I remember correct. It was advertised as being from a collection that is one of the members here. I want to see if they recognize it but if not I'll say who it is eventually. It's a Radio King replica kit with...

    Modern sounds without replacement samples.

Any good drum recording tutorials for rock/pop that don't automatically reach for the snare/tom/bass drum samples when recording real drums? Kind of disappointing to watch producers that are famous for great drum sounds go straight to samples in tutorials. I'm not necessarily talking about...

    If You Like Pina Coladas

Heard this on the way to the doctor so I looked up the drummer while waiting for my appointment. Turns out Steve Jordan doubled the drums. Don’t know the other guy. Let’s soft rock!ña_Colada_Song)

    New Rogers Covington full kit

This looks really interesting to me. My favorite 12 inch tom is a Keller Vintage maple that I really want to make a full kit but this looks like it may be very similar. Can’t wait to hear them!

What should I do with this $100 snare?

I picked this up on Craigslist last weekend and thinking about spending another $100 or so having the edges and beds re-done. As far as I can tell it's late 50's 3ply mahogany/poplar. It's a bit scratched up but no extra holes and all the hardware down to the tension rods seems to be original...

    Suggestions for cymbal re-lathing

Like most of us I've bought and sold quite a few cymbals throughout the years and usually lose a bit of money in the process but that's just part of hobby I suppose. This time I'm thinking of having one of my lesser played ride cymbals reworked by someone instead of moving on from it. I know...

    Aquarian coating too good?

Just put a new Aquarian texture coated on my snare a like the sound well enough but for brush playing it's really too much or at least more than I'm use to. Remo has always been my go to but the coating gets too smooth after a while. I assume the Aquarian will wear down but until then I was...

    Mark Guiliana on Bowie's Blackstar

I must say I think this album is brilliant. It's also a great drum record as well. The track Sue is such a killer groove and I can't get it out of my head. Here is a little insight of the process...

Anyone know the difference between the Johnny C and the Diamond cast snares?

Long time Mel Torme drummer Donny Osborne.

I was going to reply to a recent Buddy Rich thread that mentioned Donny as the one person that Buddy actually taught and I think Donny deserves his own thread. I've taken quite a few lessons from Donny and I am proud to call Donny a friend and mentor. From what I recall Donny says Buddy never...

Modern Ludwig rail consolette hole pattern.

Does anyone know if the newer (not the newest Atlas) style Ludwig rail consolette has the same hole pattern as the old 60's style? I think I would rather have a newer one.

Tried to click on a Peter Erskine video ond got this...

So I click on a Youtube video of Lee Ritenour with Peter Erskine from his recent performance at Jazz Alley and an ad comes up like it often does. It had the option to skip the ad after a few seconds but this is the first ad ever that I did not skip. Funny thing is it's no...

Ludwig experts. Should I buy this kit?

It appears to be all original. The only damage seems to be the badge on the bass drum. Is granitetone less desirable than clear? The snare looks to be 6 lug but I am thinking this is a decent price for a nice kit.

What is it about DW Collectors wood snare beds that I don't like?

Just trying to understand a bit more about snare beds and how they affect the sound. I have owned three Collectors wood snares and they have all had a characteristic that I have not cared for. At first I thought it might be those thick and wide re-rings bit I am thinking now it has something to...

Would recutting edges on DW Collectors be a good idea?

I have a Collectors kit from 1998 in sizes 10,12,14,16,22. The edges are in excellent shape but are very sharp and appear to have no counter cut, just a straight 45 to the last ply. Don't get me wrong, they sound great but I was wondering if having the edges redone with a counter cut like...
