Yes, that's why I'm not a big fan, I'm more of a jazz/Funk/jazz rock/pop/dance guy than a rock guy. You're right, that sound too rock for me, maybe brittle is not the right term, sorry for my English.
Yes, of course, I thought about a glass for brittle, thinking about the sound of the glass when it breaks but didn't pay attention that you use it only when it really breaks!!!
Lately, a variation on a 2-crash theme based in both cases on the 22" 2002 Ride and the 15" 2002 SoundEdge Hi-Hats and dependant on room size, or at least that's the plan:
- 17" 2002 Crash
- 18" Giant Beat Multi
Or
- 19" 2002 Crash
- 20" Giant Beat Multi
These voicings with a one inch difference sound really good to me, after always using, if I recall, a two inch, even-numbered difference between crashes. And the versatility of the GB is nice to have. Good times.
Oh man... i was waiting for the Signature Sound Edge hats to be in stock, checked the app yesterday and they were! So i wanted to order those together with the 22" Dry Heavy Ride and the 18+19 Full Crashes only to find out that the Dry Heavy Ride is out of stock
So think i'm going to order the rest of the next few weeks, but wanted to order everything at once

Mahogany is “warmer “because of the absence of highs. I suspect to many people the reverse is true for 2002’s. Absence of mids and lower cymbal frequencies emphasizes high end. And so… “glassy”. You know this I suspect
As @jaymandude suggested, I'd think "bright" could work just as well. But I've heard Paiste 2002s described as "glassy" so many times from different sources. I just googled "paiste 2002" "glassy", to make sure I wasn't misremembering, and found it described that way at such places as Sweetwater, Drum Center of Portsmith, Thomann, Musician's Friend and Memphis Drum Shop, so I guess I wasn't.
Huh. I just went to Paiste.com and searched for "glassy" and, sure enough, they use the adjective as well. It's official!
Just ordered the Signature 14" Sound Edge hats. Should be here just in time for rehearsal next week and then have another rehearsal in the "30 days full refund period" to see if these are the ones. Still on the prowl for the 22" Dry Heavy Ride though, seems to be out of stock everywhere at the moment (with a 6-8 week wait time now). After that probably will get the Full Crashes.

I'm currently working out what cymbal is my next purchase, to complement my current setup. I'm tossing up between 18" or 19" across either the signature or 602 series.
Currently I have the following (covers most gig sizes):
15" Formula 602 HH
14" PSTX flanger crash
16" Masters Dark Crash
17" Masters Dark Crash
20" Masters Dark Crash/Ride
22" 2002 Ride.
Granted - I still have my PST 5 pack with 14HH/16C/18C/20R, which I generally use for rehearsals. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
