Podcasts?

There's incredible talent on this forum, a lot of teachers, and impressive professionals, too. I'm wondering if anyone produces or recommends any drumming podcasts?

I'm looking for inspiration, general knowledge, cool stories and tall tales about life in music, motivation, technique and tips, and entertainment. While I'm personally a beginner, maybe we can create a list of resources for all levels so everyone on the forum can enjoy it?

YouTube or Vimeo could be very useful, but I'm primarily looking for encouraging entertainment while walking, jogging, road trips, etc. - audio-oriented more than visual. (Yes, there are tools that can record YouTube as mp3.)

Thanks!

Here's my favorite (more about bands & gigging instead of just drums): https://www.giggabpodcast.com/
Interviews of drummers: https://www.thetrapset.net/
Mike Johnston is one of my favorite YouTube channels, but I haven't spent much time with this yet: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/drum-with-mike-eddy/id1533591454m

My general complaint against many podcasts is that they're too long and semi-often the hosts are just talking but forgetting that there's an objective, that listeners time is short, and that concise interesting topics are what become successful podcasts.

Have you checked out the Drummerworld Facebook page-you'll find more and better inspiration than you find generally on Youtube? Handsdown blows me away and I've been picking up cools licks and fills faster than ever before-as well as solid groove and time. It's a humbling experience-filters out a whole lotta crap like YT.

Name the musician & I'm sure they've done a podcast with somebody.
Joe Rogan sits down with a lot of music folks and they're always entertaining.

The Drummerworld Facebook page and the I'd Hit That ones are great places to start.

I agree with that when I see a video (usually in YouTube) of something I am interested in and the length of it is 45 min.. I usually don't even bother. ( I am NOT a millenial so my attention span is just fine but 45 min???). I also don't have patience for very long winded intros just get to the f*ing point already! That is happening more and more as non professional people are becoming broadcasters. Before producers used to worry about things like continuity and generally staying on track and that things mentioned were verified and made sense.. YouTube allowed creators to throw all that out the window...

I am currently addicted to the Modern Drummer podcast. The one with Mike Johnston & Mike Dawson between roughly 2016-late 2020. The podcast changed hosts to another guy (Narada Michael Walden) in late 2020 and I haven't listened to those newer episodes. Even the early episodes from 2016 are informative and entertaining.

I also enjoy Tim Buell's podcast "Your"re Good, Get Better" and "Drum History".

For sure.
I'm down with a long winded podcast if I want to hear all the little things about whoever is being talked to.
But if 25 minutes of my life is gone before the intros are even done, then the host is an idiot.

Wow, this is great! Thank you all!
Yes, way too many extremely long-winded podcasts. I've learned nearly all podcasts and instructional YouTube videos benefit from playback at 1.1x to 1.5x speed.
Looking forward to some downloading and listening!

This is my biggest bone with Drummeo. Fantastic guests, great topics. I was a subscriber for a while. But I found the length of videos cut too much into my practice time. 45-60 minute videos were just too long. I don't have enough time to watch a video for an hour and then practice another hour.

Spot on.
Jared can cook a good hour with a guest on their life story before even getting to the first song. Drumeo is an awesome resource, but you have to be quick on the slider bar to get to what you want.

I hosted a video podcast last year while things were shut down.
Guests included Todd Sucherman, Rick Latham, Rich Redmond, Nate Morton, Mercedes Lander, and our very own Bermuda!

Here's the playlist with all the episodes:

Enjoy!
Thanks!
I've been a Mercedes fan since seeing her with Kittie in the mid 90's.
I'll be all over this, this weekend!

Awesome!
Mercedes and I have been friends since high school! The girls were all up in London, Ont. and I was just 3 hours away in Buffalo. So we played all the same venues and were in the same bands and friend circles when they first started out. We've managed to stay good friends all theses years, and it's kind of funny, of all the drummers I had on my little YouTube show, her's got the most attention, and the most positive feedback!

I got to meet her during their Funeral for Yesterday tour when they came to AZ. One of my prized possessions is an autographed flyer of that tour signed by all of them.
They were so awesome to the fans & knew how to work a crowd.

I’m very glad Mercedes is still bashing the kit & involved in music. Your interview was phenomenal. 🤘 🤘
