Anyone here tried MeetHook

Just out of curiosity has anyone here tried this website. You can book a phone call with famous musicians for a fee.

I guess this is the new thing, the rates are not cheap it's $8.33 per minute if you want to book a phone call with Steve Gadd, the other artists have varying rates, the cheapest I saw was $0.75 a minute.

Nope haven't heard of this. Though if there was somone I was interested in speaking with that I was willing to pay money to and the information wasn't available already in previous interviews or clinics, I think I'd prefer to take a lesson with them then simply add a few questions into the mix.

P.S. I waved to Geddy Lee once in 1979 for free.

"MeatHook" would be a more apt title. The site seems like a crude contrivance of bait for those in desperate search of guidance and acceptance. What can another drummer tell me by telephone that I can't discover on my own? I would think very little. Whatever might be revealed during the course of the discussion, it wouldn't be worth anything close to $8.33 a minute. I'd be hesitant to pay that much for a chat with God.

Full 45 min "lesson" with Steve would be $374,85 then.

More for rich lawyers and doctors with a hobby than starving musicians.

Had never heard of it before. It sounds like a competitor to 'Grinder' though, lol.

Sounds like some porno site-I’d pick another name, or maybe that’s a strategy?

Reminds me of the Tips & Tricks line Nintendo had in the 80s. You call them and they tell you how to do stuff you could have figured out on your own eventually.

Lol that's a conundrum in itself. Why does God need $$$? Cant God talk to me without a phone? Am I really going crazy if I dont believe in God but am talking to it? Doesnt God call folks, not the other way around?

Yeah, its endless.

If I had cash flow and Weckl was on the list I'd probably go for a couple of minutes to ask about some fills on Chick's "Eye of the Beholder" album. Then I'd offer my phone number if he wanted to carry on the conversation for free. Seems like that would be a problem for MeetHook.

PS. Weckl and Colaiuta aren't on the list, but Erskine and Sucherman are.

It's been out for a few years, I never looked into though (I was being pitched to be one of the drummers available to call.) I never knew that the rate is that high! Maybe chatting with Ringo would be worth spending some money, but for most other pros, no thanks. My feeling then was that I'm already easily available on forums and by email, reaching me is no problem for those who want my opinion on something. I wonder if anyone is actually making money from this? Maybe I was too hasty! ?

Good points here. Most interviews you can call up on YouTube for free will contain all (if not more) than you'd get from them on the phone.
All I see this for is so someone can say they spoke with a pro drummer that they can tell their friends about at the next gig.

Did he wave back?

Guys, his name is actually Roadhog. But I get why people mistakingly call him MeetHook. This is the worst Overwatch post ever.

Weckl you can get whatever information you want from in a better format anyway. If you're a part of his online school there's a fb group where he offers the full service of answering questions and evaluation video performances the students upload.

Vinne...good luck. ? At last we have transcription software easly available to anyone these days.

When you examine the fact that the guy making the call likely isn't wealthy, whereas the guy receiving the call probably is, the adage "A fool and his money are soon parted" soars to irrefutable heights.

I've forgotten about this option. Any applications you can share?

Another cash flow problem. I think the last time I inquired it was $300 a year or $30/mo, which is a steal. The other problem is it doesn't make sense unless you have the time to produce content to share and to do it on a monthly or even weekly basis.

Because I was "paying to talk to them" it would make me feel uncomfortable and sadly question their sincerity. Seems the conditions of meeting would make both feel odd or wondering "Oh no an idiot with more money than sense"and "Dang he must be strapped to do this crap." If it was on the phone-well hell I can't hear well on a phone at all. It has to be in person so I can read their lips-that helps to comprehend a lot. Then I'd ask if they were interested in a "Master Class" where I go on and on bout some biological phenomenon like climate change or genetics, epigenetic, eve-devo. etc and all for the cheap price of 10 cent a word hee, hee, hee. ROFL.

I'd stop stalking Weckl if he'd agree to a master class. I'd pay for dinner, wine and hotel costs.
