What's your latest purchase?

The Cool thing about the Benny Greb 2.0 Snare is that in the future they will add more muffling options outside of the "Sheep" and the "felt" which is kinda cool.

Its like a Snare with Software upgrades.

That being said. I thought I was done with my Snare Binge but last night at 11PM I ordered One more.

I am a huge Obey Propaganda fan/Shepard Fairey fan and this snare combines Drums and Obey. It was released 2 years ago and sold out in 48 hours. But Mugan Music had one that slipped through the cracks. It was listed for $999.99 (the retail price) and only 25 were made with each coming with a certificate of Authenticity and signed by SJC owner, Shepard and the Frank Zummo of Sum 41.

I offered him 800 bucks on reverb ( I meant to offer him 900) and he accepted it immediately.

Also proceeds from this Snare went to Charity which was really cool.

TL/DR: I bough the SJC x Obey "Rise Above" Maple Snare

Don’t think these are custom, I know I tried to research the story of these behemoths both by literature then audio visual, but with the pricing knew my time was limited. I got them for $100 each from MgR I would say they are in great to excellent condition though the 22” med crash has blotted around the description de marking the size.
They have more, but you’ll pay little more but still discounted.
Since both were at the same location, I called before I ordered and got a shipping discount rather than pay for each at the advertised cost.

I do know Sabian came out with HHX complex line recently and know they are always cooking. Seemingly getting bigger in size. I do have the HHX complex 23” medium ride on back order eta is mid-November.
Reached out to Sabian and this is their response regarding the 22” Sabian AAs.
My inquiry was pretty much asking if they were mess ups, b-stock, special orders, limited stock, mass produced, or discontinued after short retail life...

“Hi Randy.

From Mark Love, our Master Cymbal Specialist...
These models were available and common in the 80’s and 90’s and are still made today by special order only. They are certainly great cymbals but were removed form our advertised models and pricelist as newer models have reduced the sales numbers on these. I assume these were either specially ordered or sold as non cataloged skus to a dealer.”

I guess I ended up with 2 rare pieces for $100 each.

Nice. I'm glad to see guys warming up to these drums!!! They are exceptional! Once you get into how the throw and butt plate works you'll really like it I have snare wire sets strung and ready to go. change out is a snap. Enjoy!!!!
A&F makes beautiful stuff. I do however want to slap whomever had the idea of putting a veneer over teak, that is sacrilege in the woodworking community.

As I understand it the teak was not working how they had hoped. But if you're a wood worker show em how it's done!!!

Is that supposed to look all rusty like that? Kind of reminds me of the distressed look leather bomber jackets people used to wear. Sorry, not a fan. Sure hope it sounds good.
It's raw brass. It's not been finished in any way.
They sound absolutely amazing.

Out for delivery
Arriving today by 8 PM

Tick tock.... I will say.. i never heard of Pineville music before (in NC i think) but they shipped same day and it showed fast (if it shows) pretty happy with em :)

My "road worn" bass is actually road worn, and looks it. It also plays amaaaaaaaaazingly well. :) Buying "road worn" can have pluses, i.e. minimal worries about regular scratches and wear, a "broken-in" feel, but, besides that, there's a certain visual appeal.

I think that's a good looking drum.

The 'road worn' look popular with guitars discussed in another thread.
I said I hope it doesn't catch on with drums, but it looks like it might be happening.
"Yep - this snare has been on the road for 75 years and it's brimming over with mojo". ?
(But it's brand new - don't tell anyone).

I had to get a new computer weeeeee

My 2011 iMac has been crashing repeatedly, and I'm not totally sure why. They're notorious for video cards failing, but I just put in a brand new GPU, and that did not fix the problem. Must have crashed twenty times last night.

So I got a 2012 iMac! It's got a better processor and an SSD, and I have Time Machine backups, so I should be back up and running later today.

DWS, i have to replace drives with SSD's in the older imacs all the time.. when they get old like that the drives will cause tons of issues.

Apple quietly issued a TSB regarding the Seagate HDs in the iMac being prone to failure and they were to be swapped under warranty.

I have owned a computer store for 32 years and we won't sell anything seagate.. they have lived off their name from 20 years ago for a long time.. easily some of the worst drives ever made.
