I'll kick this off with some lovely Origin series porn. We have a customer interested in this specific setup. It's such a nice morning, I set the kit up in the shade & took some shots to send to him.

6mm thick undrilled Origin solid segmented beech / ovangkol shells. 22" x 12" bass drum - 15" x 12" floor tom, & 14" x 7" In-Tense series English ash / ovangkol snare.

Stunning kit! Please tell me you have something under the bass drum protecting it from all those stones.
Thank you :)

Oh yes, the bass drum shell & hoops are clear of the stones. It's standing on it's spurs & the special bass drum pedal bracket that attaches to the batter hoop.

How do the floor tom legs stay in those brackets? Just weight of the tom?
I don't see a wing nut or tightening mechanism, other than the bolts.

Good heavens, I am drooling all over my shirt! I prefer 3 or 4 pece sets when I play sets.
It's been a long time since I gigged a 3 piece, but after playing this, I must admit, I'm tempted :)

The 4 bolts (stainless steel tension screws) lightly clamp the leg in place, but in normal use, you only need to tighten two bolts. The whole clamping assembly is spring loaded. The bracket itself is not attached to the shell. It floats away from the shell, & is attached to the external reinforcement ring via stainless steel pins. It's all aluminium - very lightweight & sturdy.

I feel sooo guilty playing a 4 piece after seeing that guru kit!!!

That's it!.....I am removing my 10" tom now!!!

Great googly-moogly! That is a beautiful kit.

The leg/spur mounting system is awesome.

Guru drums keep moving up on my next kit list. :)

I dig that kit.. looks like pergo flooring...

That Guru kit is sweet. Gorgeous drums and great sizes.

Here's my 3-piece in a few different configurations.

Thank you :) The T6 aluminium hardware is developed in house, & manufactured in the UK specifically for Origin series undrilled shells. We're very proud of it.

Thank you, but I'm loving your setup. Really crisp looking kit, & the shallow bass drum option is something you don't see very often.

Nice work team! Some serious eye candy :)

Here's a little three-piece RC & Brady Combo...

Thanks! One thing I've noticed about 3-piece setups is you can really get a good look at all the drums since they are not blocked by other drums. I think this is a big plus with your kit since all that beautiful wood is in full, unimpeded view.

What's the depth of the shallow bass drum? Liking that a whole lot.
The shallow kick is from an older Pearl Rhythm Traveler kit. The size is 20x8. The idea was to use it as the foundation for an ultra-portable kit with a small footprint. I put an Aquarian Superkick I on the batter and an Aquarian Regulator on the reso. Tuned up with these heads, it actually sounds pretty good. Since the above photo was taken, I have also added a Mapex bass drum lift for extra resonance and better beater placement, and I upgraded the spurs. Here's how it's looking now:

Indeed. Not having really set up many three piece kits before, it's something that's passed me by. I'm really liking the look, & the playing vibe too.

I don't have a 3 piece kit. The smallest kit I have is a 4 piece, so I can't play.

I don't think I could survive with just a floor tom.

Y'know Larry, having listened to you play in a band / jam context, I think you could. Ok, perhaps not every gig, but some for sure.

For my Fired Up gig, I'd find it really difficult. I could get through the parts - no issue - but I think the band would be unhappy, especially on some of the melodic numbers or those requiring mandatory stadium fill stuff ;)

I have used a 3 piece for a certain gig (actually, a paid mini tour) back in the day, & I hope to find a gig suited to that again someday too. It was a lot of fun!

There's a subtle twist to a 3 piece kit in a pop / rock setting. It places the bass drum front & centre, both visually & musically. I like that ;)
