Steve Holmes grew up in Somers Point, NJ where he developed a drum-corps style rudimental foundation in high school while teaching himself drum set basics. After getting into Jazz and Fusion the next step was Los Angeles.
When first moving to LA in 1993, Steve wasted no time studying with the likes of Ralph Humphry, Dave Weckl, Virgil Donati, Tom Brechtlein, Gary Novak and Peter Erskine. He has played with Eric Marienthal, Lee Ritenour, Tony DoRosario, and recorded with Celine Dion, Jenifer Paige, Nidia Rojas and Gary Dordan. His well received instructional video Shed Some Light was first sold on his website HouseOfDrumming.com, then went on to be distributed world-wide by Hal Leonard. He is currently freelancing in the L.A. area as well as playing with his Instrumental Jazz Trio "Altered". He endorses Zildjian Cymbals and Yamaha Drums.
