Born 1977 in Hamburg, Germany.
He started to take piano lessons at the age of 12 and wrote and recorded his own songs on his small home-studio setup.
Started to play drums at age 15, took some drum lessons at local music-school, but mostly learned from just playing along CDs, visiting workshops and watching videos.
Matthias played in different local bands with musical styles ranging from rock, pop to musicals and coversongs.
He is founding member of the progressive rock band “Spring-Tide” (www.spring-tide.com). The band has won the “Bandnet-Award 2002” in Northern Germany, has released 3 demo-CDs, 2 albums, 1 DVD and is currently working on its third album, which will be released in 2009. “Spring-Tide” has performed at several drummermeetings and festivals.
Matthias also works as a session drummer for different bands and projects in the Hamburg music scene.
He recorded 2 albums with pop-rock band “JERZEE” (www.jerzee.de). Their second album will be released in March 2009 with EMI music. Club-tour through Germany in 2009.
He performed several gigs and TV-appearances with the blackmusic, R’n’B band “SIMPLE” (www.simpleonline.de).
He was the drummer for local musicals: “Engel, mein Engel” / sold-out performances Stuttgart, Hamburg, EXPO2000 Hannover), “Hafenengel” / sold-out performances at Kampnagel-Fabrik Hamburg.
He has also covered a variety of styles (funk, Latin, Motown, R’n’B) with the TOP40 coverband “FIVE RAN”.
Matthias has performed as a solo-drummer at Musikmesse in Frankfurt 2005 for his sponsor ICE-STIX and also at the annual ICE-STIX meetings along with drummers David Haynes (Prince), Bernd Hermann (Söhne Mannheims), Markus Czenia, Hans in ‘t Zandt.
Matthias is an active member of the Hamburg music scene and is performing almost weekly at local sessions.
He is also privately teaching drums once a week.
Besides playing the drums, he is producing DVDs and videos for drummers and bands.
He has worked for german drummers Benny Greb, Jost Nickel, Ulf Stricker, Bodo Stricker, Stephan Emig, Christian von Richthofen.
