Default Evans EQ3 foam port rings

just sorted my bass drum heads out. i went for EQ3 ported reso, with an EQ4 batter. ive tunes em up and they sound ok. need a bit more tweeking if im honest. i was wondering where i can get hold of the foam rings that go round the port? is it possible?

The EQ3 Reso does not have a foam ring. Perhaps it is an EMAD reso. If that is the case, I think it can be removed. Peace and goodwill.

hi there. you are correct. its the emad that comes with them. but can you buy them seperately? i want one to go round my port. or is there an alternative?

I do not know about buying a foam ring. Perhaps you could make one. Choosing the right glue to attach it may be a problem though. Good luck.

The REMAD ring/fixture setup is unique to that particular head. It isn't compatible with the EQ3 line of reso heads. The REMAD port is 4" whereas the EQ3 port is 5". Are you using any form of internal muffling?

im not using internal muffling no. ive been in touch with evans about them, and whoever I spoke to through email said he is sending me some out. im not sure if ill actually need it. I had another session last night at tuning it and got it sounding a lot sweeter. the rings may help, or not. time will tell.
