Default 18" Bass Drumhead

I want to be able to bury the beater when tuned low, but also crank it up and rebound the beater to get that nice jazz sound. I do NOT want to stuff it so preferably a premuffled head.

Some ideas in this thread: http://www.drummerworld.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=70360

I've got an emad on an 18". Ring in when tuned low, and ring out when tuned higher. Sounds pretty decent.

The EMAD head is good; I have one on my 22" bass drum. On my 18" Gretsch Catalina bass drum, I put an Evans EQ3 on the batter side and an EQ Resonant on the front. I also have a slightly modified Evans EQ Pad inside it, but the pad does not touch the heads. Peace and goodwill.
