Default Setting up a bass drum for punch

I've got a new bass drum (18x20 Mapex Mydentity), want to set it up for as much loud punch as possible. I know to play with the tuning, and I've got a few different felt/plastic/wood beaters to play with.

What I don't have are any 20" heads to play with. Anyone want to make recommendations? How does a Superkick I compare to a Powerstroke 3? How does an Aquarian Force I compare to the PS3? Never had those heads to play with side-by-side before. And I used to think the SKI was kind of dead sounding, but it might be what I want for this application.

Don't port it. Porting lowers perceived volume.

You know, I didn't even mention it, but I prefer unported and nothing in the drum as well.

In my opinion, unported is the way to go.

Punch to me means a good balance of highs and lows. I tune my unported resos fairly tight, and the batter fairly loose, JAW, maybe just a scosh higher.

Punch = Ambassador reso, tight, unported, and a Remo PS3 batter.
If your kick were a little shallower, could have had even more punch.

I got a 20x18 mapex Saturn for gigs and studio practice and it came with ps3 batter and reso's.. I've tried tuning it a couple of times but still I'm disappointed with the volume + depth.

I was thinking wooden beaters and Falam slams might be the key to getting more volume from it.
