I have the Premiums (one step up from the Pro's)... great mics for the price, but the kick mic sucks balls. It's ok for the floor tom, but you're going to want another kick mic.

The overheads and tom mics are good; the overhead pencil mics have an external 10dB rolloff which is nice. I use the CAD snare mic on my 10" tom and have an SM57 on the snare (I've got snare/4 toms/kick), the CAD snare mic is good, but doesn't quite have the clarity of the SM57.

Here's a recording I did a few weeks ago with my CAD mics, to give you an idea of the quality. You'll note that the toms sound great, but you can barely hear the kick - trust me, this is not because of my tuning or mic placement. I upgraded to a Shure 52A in the exact same place and it was a world of difference - my kick had MEAT!

I really can't stress how bad the kick mic is. Otherwise, it's a great buy for the price, as long as you factor in a new kick mic.

Hope that helps.

For beginning, they're great mics. I concur, you're never going to get a good bass drum sound with the included mic.

The condensers are ok...there's a world of difference between these and something like a Shure PG series (PG81) or even some of the MXL mics. I won't even go into the difference comparing between these CADs and something like an SM81.
