Hey, thumbs up! The way you're playing it makes it look easy.

Seems you like to use heel-toe a lot ;-)

Yeah mate, no way in hell I could get up to those speeds using single strokes!

Your playing does look very easy/relaxed so my guess was you could also do single strokes if you wanted. (Fast singles/rolls is no prob for me but broken patterns are challenging.) And it's not that fast - we're talking 220 bpm or so ;-) I'm sure you'll get there if you want.

Sorry- I meant fast for me : )
But yeah, I tried for years to do even 220bpm with single strokes and just couldn't do it (until I discovered the "miracle" of heel-toe)!

Well done! You pretty nailed it. I didn't like this particular song but watching you drumming is very enjoyable.

Not one of my finer moments but felt like giving this one a crack. Doing a simplified version of what Mr Benante plays but I just can't get it to "swing" the way he does (comes back to that whole "can feel/groove be something you can learn" argument)!

Anthrax- Nobody Knows Anything
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAfYDB4yAe0&feature=plcp

Plus an Overkill song with the drumless middle part cut out (thought it wouldn't be terribly exciting to have 1.5 mins of me sitting twiddling my thumbs).

Overkill- Ironbound (edited version)

Nice playing. I find it interesting to watch you play those songs. I haven't been listening to the bands you're covering for a long time. And back in the day I was only all ears to what the guitars were playing, haha (selective listening). So actually as I didn't pay attention to the drums at that time it's cool to see what the drummer parts look like.

Well done, Mr. Sucherman - er, Mr. McGrath.
Some fills aren't 100% tight - so what.

Although back in the day I wasn't a Machine Head fan I think they do sound much more pleasing (to my ears) than most of what is around today. Those good old times, haha.

Yeah need to work on those timing issues mate. You'll have to explain the Mr.Sucherman reference to an ignorant metal-head : )

Hahaha - sure!

[*buzz roll, rimshot*]

Well he's a superb drummer (mainly drumming with Styx, plus studio/session work), is featured here on Drummerworld and recently released his 2nd DVD (actually, a 2-DVD set again - I have both, they're easily among the best drum tutorials).

http://www.drummerworld.com/drummers...Sucherman.html

The very first thing I heard from Todd - and which floored me completely - is his drumming on "Tears Of Joy" - watch/listen to it and you know what I mean.
http://www.drummerworld.com/Videos/t...earsofjoy.html

Talk to the man in person - here's his Drummer sticky thread:

Glad I asked! I want that guys kit, his drum room (with that awesome view) and above all, even one tenth of his talent/chops.
Definitely not something I would have sought out on my own but that was a pleasure to watch - thanks for putting me onto it.

First time recording with Triggera bass drum triggers.
Great for heel/toe but since there's no beater or head to hit (and hence no rebound), makes those quick doubles with one foot more difficult than usual (so much so I've had to use 2 feet where previously I could use one)!
Obviously need more practice in developing a lighter touch with this setup (and possibly some new DW9000's may be in order)...

Enjoyable! Doesn't look too hard (what am I talking of? pad practicing guy here, haha) but still fun to watch/listen to. It gets busy towards the end (double bass), haha.

Thanks mate, went for a bit of an easier one while getting used to these new triggers. It's a weird feeling having little to no rebound (but its a hell of a lot quiter than the mesh head)!

Using a new "gimmick" for this one (ie playing to a live song with the DVD playing in the background).
Not sure what I was hoping to accomplish doing this- just trying out different things!

Todd, it 'feels' different as usual from a viewer/listener perspective, too.
Doesn't look like an easy song to play. That tune has a good number of metal and, of course, Sepultura trademarks.

Yeah mate, hard to tell if was my lousy time-keeping (which I can usually blame when jamming to studio recorded songs) or if there was a bit of time difference in Igor's live playing (I'd say I was the one out of time if anything though) ; )
Not so much a difficult song to play- just fast (too fast for me in places anyway- I realise I look like I'm having a seizure during the solo)!

Always good to hear the playing behind the words of regular forum members.

As you know, metal drum covers on an ekit aren't my scene but kudos for your mad double bass skills and handling those tricky arrangements :)

Holy shit- that is awesome mate. Was that taken after one of the concerts playing "Countdown" in its' entirety and if so, was it the one they shot for the DVD?
