You misunderstand, Jules.

It's because your fast bowler with silly hair and an old-fashioned action has had a radar set installed at last... after years of developing fire, you're finally developing electronics.

Also, I just want to say that I impressed a young couple from OZ that I met in a bar in New Orleans with my Aussie slang. I think "Pom" has become part of my regular vernacular.

As long as I'm here, whats with mushy peas? are they good? I saw this very respect chef on a Bordain show eating them and it got me wondering. Are they like mash? Do you start with fresh peas?

I wanted an ice coffee, but we're out of coffee.

Some I'm having an ice tea.

But I can't drink tea anymore without thinking about Ben and Amy.

Although at least Magenta will be please I've not had any devil's juice today.

All of which proves I spend way too much time online.

Are they good? They're DIVINE. Until a few years ago I wouldn't touch them - despite being a native of northern England, I always considered them more northern English than I could cope with - but although I wouldn't go so far as to say I was actually wrong, they are delicious and as a bonus, it appears that eating them doesn't suddenly make you want to don a flat cap, acquire a whippet, and exclaim "Ecky thump!"

The best ones come out of a tin. I've had them made with fresh peas but it isn't the same.

I had spinach, kiwi, apple and strawberry juice yesterday. Thought of you.

Ice coffee is wrong too, by the way. Just so you know.

Who are Ben and Amy?

Is it just me, or is the bass-drum hitter thing (Had a bit of a brain-lapse. No idea what it is called anymore...) is the wrong way around...?

It is if you wanted to use the felt side of the beater. If you wanna use the plastic side, then no.

Right, so I'm shaving this morning and the following occurs to me.

Why is it that if we demolish a building slowly we take it down but if we do it very quickly we blow it up? And it's not consistent with demolition versus construction because if you erect one of those rubber kiddie houses you blow it up as well. Then, let's say you get into an argument about this with your drunk neighbor and he threatens to take you down while you counter that you're going to beat him up. And the only way to shut him up is to shut him down.

Up is down, down is up. I think English is directionally impaired.

I think the technical term for bringing a building down is imploding it, or razing it. Not to be confused with raising it. Blowing things up invisions pieces flying up in the air which would bring down the wrath of God or City Hall.

I know a lot of people call it "imploding" but it's really not an implosion. It's a series of controlled explosions that weaken the supports at which point gravity brings the building down. An implosion involves inward directed force which results in a concentration of the thing being imploded. Examples include triggering a nuclear weapon (i.e., squeezing the core to start the chain reaction) and a submarine being crushed if it goes to too great of a depth.

If you could somehow surround a building on all sides with explosives and have all of the charges ignite simultaneously while directing all of their energy toward the center of the building, you could imagine the building being crushed into a ball momentarily hovering over the ground. That's an implosion. I think it would be fun to watch. Here in town they "imploded" a century old concrete warehouse a few months back as part of a highway reconstruction project. They televised it live. I watched it on TV and then immediately stepped onto my front porch and timed the delay of the explosions. Knowing the speed of sound and our approximate straight line distance from the site (thanks to Google Earth), I was able to predict the timing. Worked perfectly. We then talked about this in my Science of Sound class.

Wondering how the results of my ct scan will be next week. Doctor thinks something tore in my left shoulder and i might need surgery for it.

On the plus side it would make my case against my ex even stronger as my shoulder is the result of hatespeech.

Might have to stop drumming for a few weeks, and have to cancel a show for it.

Fun times lol

I saw that happen on the Twin Tower replays. Coincidence? Maybe. Maybe not.

I was taught that when you see a lightening flash, you count the seconds until the thunder sound, and that will tell you how many miles away it is.

Yep. Velocity of sound at STP is around 1125 ft/sec so counting to 5 (1-1000, 2-1000, etc.) yields about a mile.

Oh, that part I didn't know. I thought it was one second per mile, but I never did the math because I never knew the actual speed of sound. Never needed to. Now I know. Thanks.

Today's random thought:

When proceeding to a gig, the precise route to which is unknown to the driver, always use the word "correct" instead of "right", otherwise you run the risk of turning the trip into a bad parody of an Abbott and Costello routine.

Driver: I don't go straight, I turn left here, yes?
Navigator: Right.
Driver: I turn right?
Navigator: Yes, you turn here. Wait, you're going the wrong way!

It is particularly important to follow this rule if the driver's name is Hu.

Happened between my drum teacher and I once.

"So you're saying maybe if I try leading that fill with my left hand it might work out better?"

"Right!"

"Oh, okay..." - I then start the fill on the right side again.

That bass drum hitter thing, the beater, is two sided. One hard plastic and one a softer felt like product.

Does the free edge of the toilet paper go over the top or under the bottom?

OVER THE TOP. ALWAYS, NON-NEGOTIABLE. It's so that you don't have to touch the roll itself, just the piece(s) of paper you need.

After 26 otherwise blissful years with Mr Madge, he still doesn't get it.

Incidentally, I have a friend who will change it if it's the wrong way round, even in somebody else's house.

For those with cats, the free edge goes behind the roll. For those who actually use toilet paper, the free edge feeds to the front of the roll.

I had a roommate in college who fed the leader to the rear of the roll. I'd change it to feed forward, then he'd change it back. This went on for a couple years and we never talked about it. It was never a bone of contention, but it certainly displayed how stubborn each of us was.

Sounds like the eternal struggle for the resting position of the toilet seat in our house.

Your reasoning is sound, but I've had about 16 cats in my life and not one of them has done the toilet roll thing.

Struggle? What struggle? If you just left the seat DOWN, there would be no struggle at all.

I think I married your sister.

If I can lift it up, then you can put it down Mage. We all have our cross to carry. :-)

You're blessed. I'm not. I'm the guy who gets to use the toilet paper that's been shredded all over the floor. My family won't touch it. >:(

Let's be clear here. The LID should ALWAYS be down after anyone uses the toilet. Why? 'cuz no matter who you are or what you do, you leave a stink.

Speak for yourself!

We were talking seats, not lids, weren't we? I'm not bothered about lids, as long as I know where they're going to be so they don't take me by surprise, but seats - DOWN, again non-negotiably.

Lids down. Non-negotiable. And no incense in the bathrooms either. That's cheating.
