Default the piece on the reso head + tuning and whatnot

Hello everybody
ive recently bought a new drum kit .. its a lidwug element 6 piece ...
so i need the best lesson on youtube on tuning .. because the sounds of the drums are horrible and it didnt come tuned ...

this piece on the reso head .. should i keep it or not ... or is it up to me ?
i like the sanre to have an attack sound like in metal and rock music ... and i think this piece doesnt exactly help..

If you like the snare to have anything at all, then you need that piece. Far from it not exactly helping, that piece IS the snare. Without it......it's just another drum.

Also highly recommend some lessons. They definitely won't go to waste.

Bob Gatzen is an excellent resource.

and yes you need that piece. Every snare drum has those. if they don't, it isn't a snare drum and won't sound like one.
