Default DW hi hat stands. 3000 vs. 5000

What is the difference between the two? Does the 5000 series have any special features that would make it superior to the 3000 series? As far as I could tell, the diameters of the tubes are bigger on the 5000 than the 3000 and the pedal are slightly different, although I don't really know what they did to it/how it is an improvement and what not. Any input is welcomed. Thanks.

I never played a 3000 stand, but I love my 5000 three legged hi hat stand. It's smooth, very adjustable and stays put.

I've owned both as three-legged versions and I preferred the 5000, although it added an extra 10 pounds to the trap case! Hi-hats I tend to stay heavy on because my foot is working it and I want it super solid. The 3000 seemed to light and sorta flimsy to me to justify the cost - although there are players here who love them. To me, the DW3000 hi-hat felt just like the Tama Stagemaster single-braced hi-hat stand, which can be had for considerably cheaper. A good compromise for me these days is the Tama RoadPro hi-hat - slightly lighter than the DW5000, but beefier than their Stagemaster or the DW3000 stands. I don't have to lift it with both hands like I used to the DW5000 ;)

Solid info guys, thanks. I'll go see if GC has any Tama RoadPros to check out.
