Default Evans g2 on batter AND reso?

Hi all, I'm new to this forum so this is my first post.

I recently bought a second hand Pearl Export EX and decided to replace the tired old heads. For the toms I've bought Evans G2 heads for the batters as I want a deep, full, fat sound, and I hit hard. However I'm still considering what to use for the tom reso heads.

I was initially thinking along the lines of G1s or Ambassadors, however after a chat with a local drum store guy it was suggested that using the same heads for batter and reso (on the toms) gives the best sound.

So, my question is, had anyone tried using G2s over G2s, and how did it sound?

Chris

Buy one and try it.

If it sounds like what you're after, get the rest of the set.

If you're looking to maximize the depth of tone, definitely consider checking out the new Black Chrome series. I'm a huge fan of using them with EC Resos. The sound is shocking!

Not exactly G2 x 2, but I've got a bit of an odd combination on my mounted Stage Custom Birch toms right now.

I've got Remo pinstripes on top and Evans G2's on the bottom, and I'm really happy with the sounds I'm getting from them.

I use the same heads top and bottom (either G2s or Emperors) and I love the sound and the feel. I tend to think it sounds warmer because I have the same weight head resonating. The warmth seems accentuated when I use coated heads top and bottom.

I just put clear G2s under coated G1s on the rack toms, I'm pretty happy with how it's going. Easier to tune, too.

Sounds like a good combo.

When I got the Stage Customs, people here said change the heads - they're crap.
I thought I would give the stock heads a try for a while, but guess what - they're crap - ha ha.
Different head combinations really wake these drums up.

Ive used G+ over G2 and it is a very fat sound, but it also sustains like crazy, gotta moongel the batter to calm it down a bit.
