Trading in double 5000s a good idea?

Ok, so I've had double 5000s for about 8 years. They're still nice, but don't seem as quick as they used to be. I've cleaned and lubricated them many times, but it seems the spring and other parts are just worn a bit out I guess. I honestly never use the second pedal, so I was thinking about trading them in for a 9000 single or a Speed Cobra. My question is if I should get the single pedal used. I have no experience buying pedals used, so I am unsure if the quality is retained like shells. Obviously this may change based on previous owner and the age of the hardware, but I'm looking for a general expectation. If I were to trade in the doubles I would be able to get the used single for about $10 I believe. Is it worth it to get a used pedal, or would I be better off getting a new one?
Just as a heads up, I'm not really looking for pedal suggestions. DW and Tama are about the only hardware I trust, so I'd like it to be the best that they offer.

Just play it and see if you like it. I got a store demo DW9000 single last year from Guitar Center for $170. Thing was barely used and it works like a charm!

I think you can also get replacement parts for the 5000, right?

Yeah, you can, but I'd rather just get a full on upgrade than just update parts. I've seen them for $150 at GC, and with the trade in value of my doubles, plus the 30% off I believe you get, I'd be paying basically nothing, which is great.
