Default Yes Or No?

Hi,
I use a Gretsch Catalina Club Jazz kit as a small practice kit (sizes 18" kick, 14" snare, 12" tom, 14" floor tom and I have 14" hi hats, 16" crash and 20" ride). I play funk rock music (RHCP style) I wasn't sure whether I should put a cowbell on my kit or not considering it is a practice kit. Yes or no? Pros and cons?

Thanks

The question is: Why do you think it might be a problem?

If you'll use the thing, why not.

This really isn't a "pros or cons" kind of question mate. It's just another sound at your disposal. If you can see an application for it, get one.....if it's just gonna be another piece of gear lying around unused, put the dollars towards something you will use.

Tough decision...on one hand you got the cowbell, then maybe not....I think you'd better not.... if you really had to have one you'd just get one and be done with it. You obviously don't want one that bad if you are questioning it.

I'm voting for the cowbell.

Get it.

You've got about a half dozen threads about percussion instruments on this page. A cowbell is an easy, inexpensive way to start trying different things.

What's the worst that can happen if you get one?

Don't be too hasty. At least wait for the imminent jam block thread before throwing all your eggs in one basket.

A heard of angry cows come knocking at the door demanding it back?

Angry cows....Pretty friggin funny Jules. I think the angry birds have a franchise on angry. I'm still saying no. If you aren't passionate about it, don't do it. It's like a relationship. If you have to question it, better to wait until you find a relationship that has zero doubts and you just gotta have it. The OP obviously isn't passionate about cowbells. How would you like to be a cowbell where the owner isn't really that into you? Believe me it's not fun. There's not enough desire. Do you really want a cowbell on your set that you aren't crazy about? I wouldn't.

You know, to be able to play the cowbell you must first become the cowbell.
