Default How are the TD30s?

I currently have a set of td20s. I "heard" that the 30s ave benn sound and better sound controll especially with the hihats. Does anyone know first hand that has heard both if the 30s are muh better. Thx all.

Default Re: How are the TD30s?

I play the Yamaha DTX950. Love it, except for the hi-hat. Although a big improvement over the hats in the DTX Extreme II kit we used to have, it still doesn't come close to the nuance and infinite gradations you get with an acoustic hi hat.

Last night I had the chance to play on the TD30KV. Wow. The hi hat seemed just as good as my Zildjians. I cannot exaggerate how big the difference was between it and the top of the line Yamaha. I also thought the cymbals were overall better and more realistic. I do prefer the closed cell foam that Yamaha uses in the heads over Roland's mesh, though.

Does anybody know if I could use that Roland hi hat with the Yamaha kit? Is the technology actually within the two cymbals or is it a combination of that with what's in the drum brain?
