Default more recording questions :p

i read that i could possibly record my drums with just mics, software, and an audio interface/mixer using my computer. i was wondering if this : Alesis MultiMix 8 USB FX 8-Channel Mixer with Effects and USB Interface would be good for recording drums on my computer.

That would provide a nice start, especially if you have a very constrained budget. Only issue I would have is there are only 4x XLR inputs on this mixer/interface. You can do a small drumset with that (a couple of overhead condensers, one on bass drum, and another mic on the snare), but I do prefer close micing and multiple mics on my main snare.

That said, for a starter setup, the mixer you link comes with CuBase LE (probably CuBase 5 LE, but I didn't see it specify). With that, a few mics, and a computer, you're up and running.

*DON'T FORGET* Mic stands and cables! The hidden expense of recording!
