"best" is subjective. But I use coated G2 and I prefer clear G1 reso. And a Hazy 300 snare. Bass drum I use clear GMAD (single ply) and EQ3 reso.

G1 for tom reso's. Hazy 300 for snare reso. I've never used an Evans head for a bass drum, I'll leave that one to the guys who have.

EQ3 resonant for the kick. Good head.

Snare: EC Reverse Dot Snare Batter over Hazy 300
Toms: clear G2 over EC Resonant
Bass Drum EQ3 on back, EQ Resonant on front

I have also used clear G1's on the tom bottoms. Peace and goodwill.

I use Onyx's on all my toms, but Remo Tattoo on my snare. My bass drums still have the stock Remo for res and my snare also has stock res, though I may swap that for the stock coated that came with it, just a bit of experimentation really :)

Get to a music shop and see if they have different kits with different heads. Although woods do affect sound, it'll still help your choice. Also, what do you like the look of? I love coated, so I went black to be a little bit different. Drums are about look as well, afterall, we're the ones everyone sees at the back, our instruments don't move with us :P
