Default Gretsch Renown 57 in Red, and a bop kit!

Well my buddy Bradley from Greenbrier Percushion just sent me an email about the new Renown 57 in RED, slated to arrive to them for Feb 8th. They are also coming out with a bop kit in the same colours. I really like this red. Probably my favourite colour in the world. Gruntersdad. I think you will like this one. :)

This, with Yamaha's Oak Red finish, is the best "red" out there. Long live the redheads.
Is the crome, which seperates the red and white-thingy painted?

I am pretty sure it is chrome trim, just like the car. I have seen a couple of the blue and white in stores, and it sure looked chrome to me.

Here is one of my bikes in that colour. It was my first bike back into biking after a 15 year lay off, but it is still my favourite colour.

I use too think this was the nicest kit Gretsch had until a buddy and myself got a sneak peak at the delivery of the day. A Gretsch renown purewood wenge. Wenge I guess is an African wood. Unfortunately. I think theirs only 1 configuration. All I know is the inside is stunning and the outside as well. The 14x12 floor Tom made the 18x16 on the Ludwig classic maple next to it sound like a baby. Best part after we played it was when he said he hadn't got a chance to tune them. They sounded amazing considering I live in eastern Canada and its cold right now. I would imagine the heads would detune.

Gruntersdad does indeed like the Red. Because it is a red and some some orangey or purplish red. WTG Gretsch.

WOW what a gorgeous kit! If only they weren't standard ply shells, I'd buy one or two or three of those, haha! Beautiful!

The Renown series sound great. I have played many a Renown kit and I have always been impressed with them.
They are warm and they have sustain that is to die for.
They have a wide tuning range also.

Agreed, but then they'd be twice the price, & you wouldn't want to cover them in plastic ;)

Got to admit, that's a great looking kit to have in the back of the car for those unexpected bar gigs. I love the colour, & the 50's diner vibe to the design. Sizes & riser are neat too.

I'd rather not have the bulky suspension mount & horrible over bulky tom/bass drum mount assembly though. I mean, come on, there's half an Asian foundry sitting there! If you're going to go retro, then bolt the bloody tom holder to the shell, give the drums some rounded edges, & celebrate the sound.

Me thinks they are going to sell a few of these. Hopefully not too many, or people will get sick of seeing them at every gig. I showed my buddy yesterday, and now he wants one.

I love it! I really like the finishes on the '57' line and this is just another great one, and the bop sizes are dynamite!

Off the charts. The fusion kit was priced at $1957 (lol). So what's the deal on this baby?

Gorgeous. yeah, the red is way better than the initial light blue, then the black/white Motor City color. Played a Motor City kit last week in GC and almost...almost bought the darn thing. As if I had the money and space for it.....
