Default Powerstroke 3 problems

Hi I'm trying to put a brand new ps3 on my Tama Starclassic Performer 22x18 birch kick. The problem I'm having is when I tune it just above wrinkle it sounds plasticky and when I bring the tension up just a little it sounds & feels horrible too bright. The tension rods are even hard to get the same pitch all around the drum. I think something's up with Remo heads. Has anybody had this problem or tuning problems in general? If anybody can give some ideas I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Yeah, that must be it. ;-)

What did you used to have on there? How was it tuned? Did you have problems getting even tension at all the lugs on that one too? How's your tuning in general....are you profficient at it?

Yes, I was teasing with the Remo head comment. Blaming the entire company is a very long bow to draw.

The rest is a genuine effort to try and establish what your problem may be. The more I know about your experiences with your previous head and your ability/inability to tune, the closer we can get to getting it resolved.

You started this thread asking for help, I'm trying to do that. Do you want it or not?

I had a ps3 on there with no problems. I've been playing for 30+ yrs and I know how to tune. This particular ps3 is giving me a hard time. I also spoke with some drummer friend of mine and they had some problems with Remo heads also. 1 or 2 of them went over to Evans.

You've had this problem before: http://www.drummerworld.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=65686
Whatever you did last time seemed to fix it. Perhaps try that approach again.
