Default Where to find Fiberskyn 3 Diplomat Heads

I can't seem to find them anywhere. Sam ash lists them but they are out of stock. Is there a way to order them direct from remo? I am trying to restore a 60s Slingerland.

Personally I haven't seen Fiberskyn Diplomats on a music store shelf - ever.

I'm guessing you'll have to special order them or wait for a backorder to be filled.

If online is your only purchase option (or best option) I'd call. You might also try places like Fork's or Memphis Drum Shop

I'd Google around to find the best prices because they won't be priced as competitively as more popular heads.

Here's a FS Diplomat 13" at Memphis.

Steve Weiss has them:

Remo Diplomat

Remo Skyntone

You may also want to consider the Aquarian Modern Vintage heads. They don't have the exaggerated "just carved off an animal" look of Remo's Skyn heads but they certainly have a great mellow and warm sound.

Yes, he should. They actually sound really good.

yes i got my FDs a year ago at Memphis. one guy there told me Remo only make them at certain points in the year or on-demand. and their inventory is kept low...certain drum shops keep an inventory (where Jeff Hamilton shops) & order them in bulk.

i would also echo Winstons comments & get anything else besides the Fiberskyns for a vintage drum (just didn't like the feel, thickness & coating - my review is online here). you may even consider the very expensive REAL calfskin which sound amazing so i am told. i am working up to a complete kit buy w/ about a $300 investment.

I tried out the Fiberskyns for a while and they sounded very good when the heads were new.

However, that really did not last more than a few months time. First I started noticing the bubbling up of the contact paper like coating. Then after the blisters appeared they started to break and eventually the single ply head underneath was all that was left to play on, and being a single ply under the contact paper, it just broke through and I cracked the heads.

I called Aquarian and asked them what they had as a replacement and they recommended the vintage modern heads.
