I wouldn't buy a 2nd hand double pedal personally but If you get an iron cobra, watch out for worn out joints on the shaft, I had that problem with mine. Look at this, less than $300...

These are good enough for virgil donati, pretty sure they're good enough for you!

Well, the Mapex Falcon is a brilliant pedal, slightly over your budget, but it comes packed with plenty of options and accessories, such as different cams and drive options, it cover most versions of other brand's pedals, all into one innovative design, and a delight to use.

Here's some links:

If you shop around, you might find one place that will fit your budget, with the "after" Christmas promotion?

$375 shipped.

I would just cough up the extra $75 for it man, it's cheap as chips and you'll be using it for years. Excuse me, I'm freaking out over how cheap demon drives have gotten since I bought mine in 2010.

I picked up a good deal on an Iron Cobra on ebay Sunday, only $165 and it looks like new. There are several on ebay now for less than $300. MSRP on these pedals is $600, it's like $380 at Musiciansfriend.com.
