Default Identify This Drum

There's a snare drum I'm trying to purchase but the seller says there is no emblem on it. It is 6 1/2 x 14 and it is chrome. Here are all the pictures I can gather- I'm hoping it's worth the money i want to spend:

Pretty difficult to pin this one down. It's a very low quality drum & only 6 lug. The strainer seems to be missing it's lever. Another quality giveaway is the horrible rivet attachment of the strainer bracket to the shell. I'd say the price is about right. If you're thinking of making a good sounding drum from this, I'd be spending my money + shipping elsewhere.

Don't waste your money. That is an asian made Pearl COPY.It has a thin steel welded shell, and at best worth 10 to 15 dollars US.The actual shell size is 5 1/2x14,not 6 1/2.It really is a piece of junk and qualifies as more of a noise maker than a musical instrument.

As already said, just a no-name made in asia beginner drum.

Nice if you want to give to a small child as a first drum, but pretty useless other wise.

Is there something wrong with drums being made in asia? I'm just curious, because the Pork Pie Little Squealer is and it's a damned good drum.

In and of itself, no. This drum however isn't worth buying.

Alright, it's cancelled. Thanks for the help guys, the shipping costs more than the drum itself...

And off-topic, but what do you think about me spending all my Christmas money on this:

Lookin' for that real dry sound.

Technically..that is certainly not a transition badge. The transition badge was only made for one year in 59.That is a Keystone badge drum from 69 and the last year for keystones, before the B/O badge. That drum is in excellent shape and is a little rare in that it has the large round knob muffler..

They do have a somewhat dry sound and would be a very good choice to spend your Christmas money on.Good luck and Merry Christmas.

I was just giving you information about the drum.If you interpreted my reference to asain made means poor quality..maybe I should have been clearer. There are plenty of well made, excellent quality drums made in asia. But that one in particular.....no matter where it was made...does not qualify as quality.

Great drum and in excellent condition. No obvious pitting or rust on the shell or hoops that I can see.

As for a dry sound. Supra's (aluminium) are drier than say brass or steel, but if you're looking for a really dry sound, consider a dry/pre-muffled head to help you get it. There's still a little bit of ring with a supra.....and thank god for it. :-)

I failed to mention in my last post that the strainer on that drum is not original. For a keystone badged drum,it should be a P-83,not a later P-85 which is whats on the drum now.Hopefully it will keep the bidding lower.
