Default Even trade?

I have been offered an even trade: My Oak Customs for a Tama Starclassic performer B/B. Both are 22, 10, 12, 16. No snare. I am happy with my Oaks but intrigued by the Bubinga wood. This would be my live kit. Anyone heard the B/B live? Thoughts? Thx

Pretty even, but I'm more into oak. They're better sounding drums.

Some people say that the B/B is more "percussion-like" in it's sound..
Any chance to try out the kit before you trade? That would be resoanble.

I'd stick with the oak kit but if Vegas had a line on this trade, it would read "pick 'em." Both kits (assuming they're in relatively the same condition) are in the same ballpark quality wise. Comes down to personal preference in sound, and perhaps finish.

No way should you make that trade ! You would be trading a high end kit (Yamaha) for a mid- price kit. Your Yamaha kit has a much better resale value.

I'd keep the Oaks personally.

And yes, if you were to buy both kits new, the Oaks would cost far more.

Although plenty of pros tour with the Tama B/B and love 'em.

Thx for the replies guys. Gonna keep the Oaks. Been using them live for three years and they have served me well. Plus I always get compliments on the way they sound. Why change a good thing right?

yeah, unless good can be turned into better :D But well, im sure i'd love both. Oak customs are generally like 1500$ higher priced here in Denmark, than Tama B/B... so unfair trade anyways.

Oh man, two great kits. There's a 4 piece Oak Custom that's been sittin' at the floor at my Sam Ash foreveer... I think they even priced them at or under $1000 during a sale... but to no avail. They are definitely a powerful, beefy set of drums.
