Brilliant stuff this.

John Riley is an expert at "digging out" what our drumming heroes are doing on their kit.

I have got a booklet that came with my Simon Phillips educational videos, all transcripions are by John Riley.

Awesome.

I really think if I could have lessons with any drummer in the world, it would be John Riley. He's such a great player but also, by all accounts, a fantastic teacher.

I love the Max Roach phrase as well. I use that one, and parts like it, in my playing often - but not to often... now to fit that Vinnie fill in somewhere...

It's some extra stuff of a Chaka Khan concert DVD if I remember correctly. It's been uploaded to youtube many times, but gets taken down fast.
