22" Legend Dark ride. This is a perfect jazz cymbal. I use it with my trio, piano bass drums with a female vocalist. The cymbal is easy to control and does not over power the piano. Although it could obviously. Lovely cymbal.

So sorry i missed this post. Yeah these are nice drums. The Aquarian didn't quite work so I changed it for Remo Ambassadors top and bottom. perfect! Great drum. I've not heard a Broolyn drum but am keen to.

Pearl Elite bongos. Great drums but this discontinued color looks pink when under lights on stage. That wouldn't be so bad if not for the fact so many people like to comment "You have sparkly pink bongos and congas". I think I know why the color was put aside.

I love frame drums. Pandeiros mostly. I don't know why. It is possible the reason is as simple as that I live in an appartment. I do love the many tones though and the amount of rhythmic ideas that are possible. I scour markets for drums such as this little gem.

LP tube chekere. Too heavy to be a very good instrument. I think this is why it was discontinued. I would not want to shake it in time over a 15 minute jam! Although Airto must like it as it graced the cover of his album Life after that. Unless the title reflected life after shaking the damned thing!

Note to the drummers who could gcould not care less aboutperrcussion, more pieces are coming. I need to get to them. Some items in storage i have not seen in over a year. Really old vintage stuff is in bags in cases in boxes. My idea is preservation. Some 1920 era drums i have not seen in years. Please be patient with me.

Most is stored. The things at home are small. Frame drums, bata and various percussion.
This is why it is taking so long to complete this thread. I rarely visit the storage place.

This is a very special snare drum. It is a Ludwig 14x4" brass snare from the 1920's. The sound it projects is HUGE! This is unlike a modern drum with the same dimensions. I fitted it with a high end Ludwig wire and Remo Renaissance batter and Diplomat snare heads. This ranks as one of my best drums. I daresay it is everything modern Black Beauties wish to be.

Bauer repinique. For those unfamiliar with this instrument, repiniques are the lead "call" drum in a samba batucada. The leader signals changes with the repinique. Usually one hand holds a stick and the other hand plays open tones and slaps. Repiniques also make great additions to drum sets. there is a timbale like sound.

I own a few chekeres. I love playing the instrument. The drum/shaker is not hard to play in its basic form A drummer can use one to step out front when he or she decides the kit doesn't apply. They are eye catching to the audience.

The Oconcolo is in storage. Will post it soon.

Pearl chekere. This isn't bad for a Pearl. Smaller than I usually like but it is light and sounds great.

I hate red bricks, they're so ugly. My house has a nice assortment of brown and caramel.

Much nicer than your bricks.

Here are 2 soumd files of my Slingerland COB Sound King snare in the very capable hands of a student. The first file, snares on, is played with The sound of muzak.

The second, snares off, is a rendition of Bill Bruford's cover of Max Roach's The drum also waltzes.

I hope you enjoy them.

Very nice playing by Anastasios. A lovely relaxed & confident schooled style. One hell of a job you've done there wy. As for the snare sound, I mostly like it in the context of the material, but still tuned a touch low for my liking. I think it has more to give. For me, it needs to pop & crackle a bit more.

Hi mate.
Yeah the sound suffered due to them putting an O ring on it. I had it tight and ringing beautifully when I loaned it to him. His dad is in charge of keeping the drums tuned, and does a wonderful job (hear those toms?) but was a bit out of his depth with an antique drum that will detune. Sadly this is the only sound file of any of my instruments that is online. Plus I wanted to let people see the solo. The PT song was just new.

Thanks mate.
