Default Gear Part Two

Sadly it is impossible to recreate the last thread within that thread. Many pieces are in storage, photos lost etc.So I will begin anew here. This will take considerable time, so please be patient with me whileI try to sort it out.

Yes, the Tama LTD Ed Starphonic steel is a killer drum. On a recent session the engineer said "That's the best snare I've ever recorded!".

On the subject of LTD Tama's, here is one of fifty Starclassic bubinga koa's. Seen above at work with the Masterworks.

Lovely veneer.

Ludwig Black Beauty. (While all other Luddies get put away in storage, the BB remains ready)

Onurhan 17" crash. This cymbal is dark yet powerful. It also responds to gentle touches. Fantastic cymbal!

Early 70's Sonor Phonic. Some drums love 40 strand snares. This is one of them. Such a sweet drum. Whenever I play it I am in danger of getting lost in the tone and forgetting I have a job to do. I put LeSoprano hoops on it. The old hoops needed replacing.

Tama 13 x 6 1/2 Birch Bubinga. Made in Japan. It sounds amazing with a Modern Vintage head coupled with an Aquarian snare side head. Very powerful.

Yamaha maple custom. Lovely lovely drum.

(Strangers who send me PM's asking if I am selling drums will be ignored. I'm not interested in non posters. The same goes for non posters trying to sell me books through PMs. If you are unwilling to put in an effort here to help the beginners, forget selling me stuff. )

Tama Starclassic Copper. This is a lovely drum I just fitted with new heads top and bottom; Aquarian Jack DeJohnette batter and Aquarian reso. The darker sound of the JD batter adds to the overall "wetness" of the drum's character. The Starclassic copper is a very fine drum.

Here are a few other shots of the Tama LTD Starphonic steel. Tama is onto something very special with the Starphonics. Every drum I have played has been fantastic and the snare mechanisms and hoops are great. A mate had an issue with a hoop getting dinged but thinks it the result of a "gear strike".

Awesome stuff, thanks for the effort, I know it can be a daunting task, not just the shooting , uploading and posting, but the cleaning and setting up of the shots. I also have a set of Masterworks, of my current 4 kits, they are at the top of my favourites, although my Signias are more favourable for warmth and bottom, the Pearls cut like a Ginsu knife.

Yeah it takes time, but it's a good way to keep track of things. When everything is uploaded I will set about writing reviews of each piece so people can get an idea from someone who"s lived with the stuff, as opposed to a guy in a magazine writing a review. I have some decent knowledge. For example, a LeSoprano failed big time on a recent session, ruining 3 takes. I'll be able to explain the good and bad points. But first the pictures.

Radiant 18" crash.
