Some will say they're great. Others will say the coating wears off in about three and a half minutes. I say that CS heads have served me well whenever I've used them.

Pretty good. I use them on a couple of my snares and they have always worn well. I don't change my heads as often as I should, so I have a good fat worn spot in the coating in the center.

I guess it depends on durable compared to what?

In my experience they last forever! I used one for almost a year and only then did it start to sound bad. The coating was worn smooth but never came off.

Same thing for me, except I'm only on about a 4 month streak without any coating coming off. It still sounds great! I think with Remo's coating it's a hit or miss.

Everyone is talking about Coated Remo CS. matt2hyc, are you talking about clear or coated?

The coating on a controlled Sound (to me) is different than a standard ambassador...It gets smooth alot faster, but doesn't flake off (i.e. Coated Powerstroke heads)

But the general durability of the head is, the sound good for a LONG time...even for hard hitters.
