Default New Pedal Setup

I just got a close out DW 7000 single pedal. I really like the action on it but the problem is that i have it on a 20" bass drum and i feel like i have to have the beater way too low to get it in the middle of the drum. Then, when I get it in the middle, the bottom part of the beater is hitting the drum head on the rebound. Any suggestions?

Personally I think that the kick sounds just as good if not better if the beater is off centre. But it depends on what sound you are looking for. It makes the kick resonate a bit more a bit boomier. if that dosnt work for you then try a bass drum riser. The ones ive seen are for 14-18 so you nay have to look around for that if that fails try a new beater with a shorter shaft or cut off the bottom. I've never realy had this problem so im just going fron what I've heard. Anyway I hope this helps

Set the beater to be about an inch high from center. One inch will not make a big difference in a drum of that diameter.

Or

Put a riser/lifter on the drum.

Yea, I always run my beaters just a little high off center. The tones great and I don't have to worry about the beater's shaft hitting the head.
