Yamaha is the one I'd go with. DW has 'em, too.
Smaller companies, Peace and ddrum makes it I think, and custom makers could have them. |

Phattie/Stauffer Percussion makes some nice cocktail kits at a reasonable price.
Here's a link: http://staufferpercussion.com/drums/...cktail-models/ I have one made by Metropolitan Drum Co. but they are no longer in business.

Maybe the bigger question is who still plays them these days. I think they look cool, sophisticated, perfect for wedding receptions, cocktail hour in a hotel lobby. I like the idea that the drummer is up front with the other guys, free to dance, whatever.

Going on tour the months of April / May and now that they have seen this set they may incorporate it on tour. Touring with a Hip Hop artist. Will also have a huge DW set on stage :) Otherwise when I return home I will use it on smaller jazz or R&B gigs in restaurants or smaller venues. ![]()

Stauffer Percussion did make beautiful cocktail kits but, so sadly, Dennis Stauffer (the owner/maker) was killed in a car accident just a few weeks ago. RIP

I picked up a cheapo cocktail kit off ebay a few years back, GP percussion I believe.
$ 300 bucks brand new. The kick pedal was good and they sounded decent enough. I was doing shows with an artist that had an old school 40's , 50's swing vibe going and I bought them as a novelty to add to the look of the time. Be warned though ...they are not the easiest thing to play. Not the actual playing but standing there for longish periods of time ( 2 - 1 1/ 2 hour sets ). My left heal ( right foot on the pedal ) would really start to pain from doing like a tripod kinda stance. I don't know if anybody else had that problem but it was enough to make me sit behind a kit again. Edit: I didn't realise how old this post was. Last edited by bigbang; 02-22-2012 at 02:39 PM. |

Infamously, Yamaha made a cocktail set for a while with Steve Jordan's name hung on it, and examples still exist in the wilds of eBay:

Whitney drums makes them too. Plus they come apart and nest inside each other for transport.
