Default Puresound Beater Problem...

I searched and haven't seen this before,

I just bought an extra-long Puresound Speedball rubber beater, and after playing a dozen or so strokes of the pedal, the "self adjusting" feature self-adjusts so that only the very bottom edge of the beater surface is contacting the head. As I understand the self-adjuster, it's supposed to maintain maximum contact, not this way. I can reach down and rotate it back to making flat contact, but a dozen or so strokes later, it's back to the bottom edge.

Anyone else had similar experience? I have an e-mail in to D'Addario, who owns puresound, but thought I'd ask here while I wait for them to get back to me.

Default Re: Puresound Beater Problem...

I received the following from D'Addario:

Thank you for your patronage of Puresound Accessories.

Unfortunately, insurmountable problems like this (and others) have forced us to discontinue the "Speedball" beater line.

So, you have two options available to you, at this juncture:

1)We can send you some Evans Drumheads of your choice, to "Replace" the value of the defective beater.
2)We can fully refund your purchase price, if you provide a receipt.

We are sorry for the inconvenience this causes you.

Please advise as to which option works for you.

Thank you for your patience.

Sorta stinks that the thing is essentially unworkable/unfixable, but I'm impressed with their generosity, in taking care of the problem as best they can.
