Default Re-wrapping drums need help

Looking to spice up my flat grey mapex kit a bit.I was thinking it might be interesting to paint the lugs white, however if i dont like it i dont think i can go back.
I was also thinking about just doing the snare, and wrapping it with newspaper. However if i did so what would i cover the newspaper with? Also if it ends up looking bad can i put back on the old wrap? And further more, how do i take off the original wrap? And if you have any other ideas let me know. Thanks!

to get the wrap off put a knife a blade or something sharp and thin where the wrap meets move it up and down till you brake the bond. then peal the old wrap away. check to see if it was only glued at the seam. if there is glue on the wood get some fine sand paper and sand off the glue, but then if i where you i would stain it looks far nicer and if you don't like you can just put the wrap back on it or use a different wrap.

*** DO NOT PAINT YOUR LUGS!!!!!!***

Painting over chrome, even sanding every single one down first will look terrible... Believe me, I've tried almost everything to do it, plastikote, hammerite, you name it.

The ONLY WAY to recolour hardware White is powder coating.

As far as your shells go, if you're intending to re-wrap, just go over the original with a cool fabric. There are loads of ideas, including some of mine, on the drums modification sticky in the drums section of the forum. if you're hell bent on newspaper, spend a bit of cash and have a car vinyl sticker company make some stick on vinyls in the print of the paper you want, Pre cut to size. Probably do the whole kit for less than 100 and it would look super cool, as well as being removable if you ever want to go back. Don't bother taking the old wrap off unless you want to stain the wood underneath!

Hope it helps!
