Default Yamaha Recording Custom early 80's!

I just bought a new drumkit, a late 70s/early 80s Yamaha 9000 RC in sizes 13,14,18,24. The seller has the original snare for sale, but i'm not sure if i should buy it or not. Anyone has any experience with these? I've posted some pictures on the kit and the snare with the serial. Can't find anything when searching for "SD-065MB" wich the snare says.

Thanks.

Yes..that Yamaha's version of the parallel action super sensitive snare (similar to ludwigs super sensitive)...it's a great snare!...very sensitive response, seamless shell, top of the line drum in its day....produced from 78-83 (approx.)...if its in good shape I'd buy it!....

Thanks for the fast answer! Its in great condition. Would you say it can compare soundwise to the Ludwig super sensitive?

I havent had the drums delivered yet, i only got the pictures. The drums are late 70s or early 80s 9000-series. But i'm not sure about the snare as i said. He doesnt have any recordings of it either.
Its the one in the original picture. I pay 100 dollar extra if i want the snare...

That is a nice price.

If hit has the ''GA'' code (witch I think since the interior is clear and it looks like the exterior is raw without gloss) its a Recording Standard. (have one of these myself)

Don't know about the "code", you mean serial number? It says "OH".

Get the snare. If you ever want to sell it again, there are lots of people that are looking to get a used kit with the original snare.

congrats, that is a sick find / buy. that snare is easy to make an amazing 'studio' backbeat. back in the late 80s, there was a guy in miami w/ a similar kit (would let me play it set up in a certain locked studio during the summer) & the same snare. just amazing sound & good wood.

In the 80s, it seemed as though most drummers seen on TV played those Yamahas, that is until the rise of DW. Those are nice drums. Peace and goodwill.

WOW

SWEET SWEET DRUMS my friend!!

My former drum teacher had a similar kit, Piano Black 80's Recording Customs. Those drums have nothing to envy today's top of the line drums.

Congratulations

(And yes, get the snare). ;)

EDIT: Oh, and the seller should go to prison for putting those used batter heads as reso's on those beautiful babies. (*angry*)
