Default Need advice/help on replacing bearings on Iron cobra I am Mechanically Challenged

A few years ago I converted an IC rolling glide to a power glide, 1st generation IC with the silver /grey frame,Bruce Felter(Longroll)(God rest his patient soul) over at DFO talked me through it.I can sort of remember most of what needs to be done, but have question or two.I know I have to remove the beater and detach the chain from the cam, remove the speedo ring on the right, the screw cap on left and use a rubber mallet to push the cross bar to expose the bearings,as I remember I had to use a socket attachment over the threaded end (left side) with a small piece of wood on top to push the area just around it the threaded part of the cross bar .Does this sound correct?
