Default Simmons SD7K Drums Programming, Help Please!

Hey guys,

I just recieved a Simmons SD7K electronic set from a friend and am wanting to integrate it in with my acoustic set. I have all the drums set up and what not but the programming is whats bothering me.

Is there any way that I can load my own sounds and assign them to pads on the module? Such as when I switch to a custom set and I hit the tom, its plays a voice clip or something of the such? I am wanting to use it to trigger effects and samples, I see that it has a USB port and I have a MacBook Pro at my disposal to use if that is of help, it does have GarageBand

Thanks! Hope to hear back!

I believe Garageband only receives on MIDI channel 1 or at least I know it did, and the SD7K only transmits on channel 10 which is a standard in the industry (drums = MIDI ch 10.) You will need to change your midi channel in realtime. I am not a Mac person but found this after a quick google

The one big advantage of having the SD7K control software is now you can use all 127 levels of velocity vs. the SD7K's generator which only utilizes THREE! The challenge will be latency though, for drummers this is a big issue.

You will also have to deal with the dreaded "open HH is same as RIDE" midi problem.
